I grew up with a '89 3.2 coupe in my home and every Sunday afternoon until I was 18 my Dad and I would take her out and ride along the coast in Greece. Last year I drove her myself for the first time and it was an ethereal experience. Was everything I hoped and more. Won't sell her for any price and will hand it down one day to my son. Loved the video and cherish her!

80,000 miles and an Engine you can eat off of, immaculate. My 87 has that factory rustproofing yellow showing on the engine cooling fan area and beneath the engine.

I noted the slight nervousness in his voice, careful operation & hyper-awareness of the surroundings... just like all of us on our first stint behind the wheel of a 911.

Congrats man, i hope it serves you well. I'm picking up a 1976 2.7 911s at the end of the week and i must say i was so impressed with how it drove when i tested it. Fully expected it to be a bit sloppy after driving my 718 Cayman for the last few years but the thing just seems to be so tight and solid. The 915 gearbox has to be treated with a little care and not rushed but has a wonderful mechanical, notchy feel to it. Porsche really knew how to screw together a sports car, it's aged a lot better than i have in the last 45 years. I know what you mean about the steering wheel touching your knees, i had to drive mine bow legged so bought a Momo wheel which should improve things greatly. Do hope you're not going to just save it for nice sunny weekends, i'm intending to drive the pants off mine. Good luck fella, may it bring you joy!

To be correct, the bottom of the Porsche crest on the wheel centres should be in line with the tyre valve, and that's official edct to the OPCs.

Very nice. Id say not quirky to drive over time if driven with vigilance, patience, and awareness of rear bias. Don't over commit in turns. Oh wait, did I see debris on the carpet?

Lovely car - enjoy! The classic 911s had more character but by my reckoning '89 isn't 'old' - not when you were born in '66 anyway 😁

@@nuttsoncars2710 Ha, ha. Yes, it would have been brand new to me back then...and I would've been a very lucky twenty-three year old. IMHO those cars were built to a higher standard than anything after the 993, so I'm not surprised it still feels well screwed together at 80,000 miles. With care she could probably go another twice round the clock easily. Have fun.

So I finished my 1989 in November 2022 and have 1500 miles on it after the engine rebuild (now a 3.4). It's now my main car that I drive I love it so much. The G50 indeed has to warm up a bit along with the engine before it will perform for you but it loosens up very well and then provides the reward that you expect. It's wonderfully engaging to say the least and much faster after the engine enhancements. I'm working up for a road trip next month to bond with the car.

You sure its a 89? Thats the first year of the 964 and that looks like an impact bumper car or G Body style which ended in 88.
@nuttsoncars27103 жыл бұрын
Definitely, one of the very last to be built - officially they were built up to July 1989
@fabian1163 жыл бұрын
Yes. It is 89. Mine is identical G body.

89’ was a split year. Porsche produced the last of the 3.2’s the first half of the year. The 964 was debuted the second half of 89’.
@gabeah2 жыл бұрын
G50 g bodies were built 87-89 both 3.2 and 930 turbo. 89 was also the first year of the highly over rated 964.
@leeenfield34043 жыл бұрын
The 915 is a far better box...the G50 was the first major dilution of the 911. You just have to learn how to shift a 915, then it's fast and smooth. The RS 2.7 was a 5-speed 915.
@overbuiltlimited2 жыл бұрын
Dilution?! Gotta be kidding me! No, the G50 is objectively better in every way. Better feel, much tighter, less play while in gear, superior design, lasts longer, can handle 750HP out of the box. G50 cars go for a premium over 915 cars for a reason. Have fun with your 915 by all means, but enjoy it for what it is. Don’t just make up imaginary “benefits.”

I have a '89 3.2 in the same color, but non sport model. Great car, but by now will need some bits replaced like any other car this vintage. i'm refreshing the engine, but the cost explodes since there's so many cool parts available to enhance things while opened up. No matter how much money I throw at it it was outstripped that with increasing market value, but since I'm keeping it that's not as important.

Quirky and very old fashioned!! Difficult and very awkward to drive! We are talking about a 1989 Porsche Carrera, or a 1900s vintage car! You better stick to your modern shite then mate!

@@nuttsoncars2710 Just your choice of words! Quirky for sure, but most def NOT awkward and old fashioned! My weekend toy is a 1984 3.2 Carrera with a 915, a little more 'old fashioned and awkward' than a G50. instagram.com/verde_917/
@nuttsoncars27103 жыл бұрын
The pedals are off centre, the steering wheel is in your lap and it doesn’t like to go into gear too easy until it’s warm I’d say that’s pretty awkward but it adds to the appeal and is what gives you the thrills as it adds to the character! It’s 30 years old of course it’s going to be old fashioned 😂. On a brighter note your weekend toy looks epic!!
