It is time to plant the winter veg in the garden. Luca and I get to work.
Carlo tells me about a comment he read saying that we don't portray the real Positano but I beg to differ. I think we all experience different versions of the town depending on where we are, what we are doing and even how old we are.
We take a walk along the Path of the Gods which can be very busy in the mornings, but we choose to go at a time when we know it will be quiet, therefore getting a different experience from that of a morning hiker.
Please don't get upset by our little piece where we pretend to be clueless on arriving on Positano. We have been these people ourselves and we have seen all of this happen, it is only some light hearted fun. There are far more things on the world today to get upset about that a silly little skit on youtube.

Hi Bitty & Bill, Carlo here, you are 98 years old and you watch videos on KZfaq, and also leave comments? You guys are very far ahead of your generation, my Dad, he's "only" 85, and he has no idea what YT is, and with those sausage fingers he has he could never use a cellphone, and in fact he doesn't use it. ! We are very pleased to know that at your age you are interested in watching our videos, I swear that personally I feel really proud, knowing about this makes me happier to have won the lottery! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and keep watching our videos, if you like to do it, we really appreciate it!😁💕❤️😍😘

Whoops, I see I made a typo. We are only 92, not 98. We stayed in Cliffside Agave Hotel in August 2005 and also visited Ravello, returning by boat. Also went to Capri. We love your home and garden. We plant tomatoes, corn, onions, peppers and squash.

I totally agree. Don’t let the negativity from some people get to you. At the end of the day you cannot please “everywhere “, and neither should you try. Just continue to be yourselves 😉, that is what will continue to draw people to your channel. I do have one question, how do you manage to grow tomatoes that are so red. Are they sweet to taste?

Oh Nicki and Carlo, I can't believe it has come to this. I have been following you for years, I don't even know how long, mainly through another of my channels, and you have always been without doubt, hands down, my favourite channel on KZfaq. I have been lucky enough to have come to Positano a handful of times, and been each type of tourist. Finding out more and more about the town as we returned. It has been my dream to get to Positano one day in my life which I never thought would come true, so for me the history of it, the amazing people who have left their mark on it, have always fascinated me. I remember the first time. We managed to get a bed and breakfast in high season with a last minute booking (I never tend to plan, one of my bad traits) and we bought a watermelon and some grapes for dinner, and sat on the balcony and listened to the church bells ring, and I started crying from joy. We hardly had any money but it was a dream come true to be there, People need to read about its history before they get there, from the ancient Romans to the French movie stars of the 1950's. Its a magical place. I'm just scared that it has come to this, where you are having to defend your town, your KZfaq channel, and even what you post. Everyone is getting so upset by the most ridiculous things these days. I feel like we are going backwards in life regarding censorship. So please, please, don't listen to these insults. Don't let them get to you. The more people watch you, the more insults you'll end up getting. Please keep going, don't censor yourself and keep going with this amazing escape you give us week after week. I'm scared you are going to one day, just get fed up with the negativity and stop posting. This escape means so much to people who have been there with amazing memories, but just can't get back for now. So I just want to say Thank You, for working so hard. Please don't disappear.

Hello my dear, Carlo here, thank you for your long and pleasant comment, and thank you for telling us briefly, but tangibly, your experiences here, I want to reassure you that at the moment we really want to continue making videos, and above all I because it's relatively new to me by actively participating in videos !, Then of course whatever can happen! Regarding the fact of defending ourselves, defending Positano, I do not think this is what we are "forced" to do, each one of us certainly has the right to say what he wants (respecting decency and education) if someone wants to complain, it is absolutely not a problem for us and not even something to defend ourselves against, indeed we use your comments to improve (if possible) our videos by taking your thoughts and ideas, and finally let me say that we really enjoyed shooting this video!😁💕😘

I thought Carlo’s comment about more people being able to travel now, not just the rich, is very accurate. Travel anywhere now means crowds, and that doesn’t always bring out the best in people. I for one, like your posts because they are a slice of your life. It’s not just about where you live but how you live in a culture many folks want to know about. You can’t please all of the people all of the time. Try and ignore the negative comments. Keep on keeping on. It’s bravo time for me😊

We are just back from our 5 night stay in Positano, mid September and want you to know that our first visit to Positano was a day trip years ago but then I started watching your videos which really made me interested to going back, thanks to you we have experienced a very different outlook. The past 5yrs we have stayed in Amalfi, Miaori, Praiano for part of the week and ended it in Positano so this year we stayed all 5 nights in Positano, we escaped the crowds to Fornillo beach which we love, spent a lot of time eating and drinking in Da Ferdinand . We enjoy your videos of one of our favourite places in Italy and are thankful to you(and Carlo of coarse) for all the info you provide, people should not complain to you about not enjoying their visit/stay in Positano as I say about anywhere you go, if you don't enjoy it, it's your own fault not anyone else's fault, many thanks for your videos, always look forward to Sundays

My philosophy regarding traveling is explore an area, pretend I'm a local and take it all in. I have no expectations and are always happy with the end result. We have been to Positano and the only scheduled event was a cooking class in a restaurant by the sea which was so amazing. The rest was getting up in the morning and exploring the area. We found ways to get around and visited Sorrento and Capri as well as Ravello. Some people run around aimlessly from one thing to the other just to get a photo and say I was here. Slow down when you travel, take it all in and be resourceful and ask the locals questions about the area and where to go. Nicki ignore the negativity, you and Carlo are amazing people and give us beautiful videos of one of the most beautiful areas in Italy.

I have been that unorganised traveller. The best holiday we have had as a family was to the Amalfi Coast, based in Sorrento. We organised through an agent called Families Worldwide Uk, they sell family friendly holidays and tours. We were home educating at the time and so we were not restricted to school holiday schedules, so we went in early June and the company had made a tailor made experience for us. It was an absolute dream, someone else had done all the thinking and planning for us. We simply got up, dressed and breakfasted each morning to be greeted by a wonderful guide (different every day) with a taxi waiting outside to take us sightseeing for the day. The taxi drivers were a lot of fun as were the guides. We went to Capri and our guide gave us a tour and then left us to our own devices to wander and have lunch and roam about until it was time to return on the ferry. The guides each day were very knowledgeable, the pattern always the same, to show us around and inform us and then we'd have some free time. Typically returning to our hotel around 4pm to relax round the pool with a drink before getting ready to go out for dinner. We went to Pompeii and were whisked in past the first at the doors queues of people who'd stepped off coaches and our tour of part of Pompeii was ahead of the crowds. We had a day at an agroturismo cooking and eating, high up in the hills with a fabulous view of the sea, we visited Ravello and Scala and Amalfi and Positano. We didn't have any arguing with the children about what we were going to do. We had a few free days where we mostly relaxed on the little platform bathing areas at Sorrento. Our children were 12 and 14, and it was our first holiday abroad with them as all our holidays had been in the UK in our caravan, it was an absolute dream. If we'd just rocked up unplanned we know we would not have had such an amazing stress free, relaxing, fun holiday. We went to Sicily a few years later, and hired a car, we had a good time but self guided and driven is infinitely more stressful and I'm sure we missed out on a lot of things.

Nicki (and Carlo, and Elizabeth, also) have commented frequently over the years on how busy all the touristy areas (all along the Amalfi coast as well as the islands of Capri, Ischia, Procida) get during summer, how bad the traffic gets, how busy the ferries are, how crowded the restaurants become, etc.

Nicki and Carlo, we thoroughly enjoyed watching today’s video! We agree with many of your other viewers that there will always be those who are negative no matter what - DISREGARD those comments. With so many research tools (i.e. KZfaq, travel agencies, etc.) there are no plausible reasons why anyone traveling to Positano should not be aware of busy and crowded times and better plan their schedules/activities. You both did a super skit portraying many of today’s travelers!! Looking forward to your next video on Wednesday!! Thanks again for your efforts making the videos so enjoyable!🇺🇸👍

I shake my head at people at times, in fact I retired from my career in customer service mainly because I was encountering more and more people whose attitudes made me at least shake my head but often had a big emotional impact on me. Se non disturbo troppo mi potete raccomandare qualche hotel non troppo costosi, e se sarò fortunata podarsi vi potrò incontrare. Vi mando un grande abbraccio.

Loved it!! We've been to Positano and seen the crowds...but if you take a bit more time, you can find the most lovely places with views, small restaurants, and wonderful Italian folks...we finally got to Priano and found the Onda Verde Hotel, spread down the cliffs like everything else...it was great! Please keep up the wonderful work...we appreciate you both, your family, and beautiful home!

@@aliciab4236 Hello: Onda Verde was family-run when we were there several years ago...the son ran the front desk, an uncle was the restaurant manager, and Dad made the delicious limoncello that we drank far too much of....the lemons grew right outside, on the hill going up to the road...we were there for almost two weeks..didn't want to leave!

This summer was madness everywhere, but especially Italy! But what would you expect from a gorgeous little town where every square meter is fully exploited??? Of course it will be crowded!!! Go out of season if you do not crowds!!! It's the same everywhere, South of France, parts of Spain and Italy!!!🥰

I took my daughter in 2015 to Sorrento and Rome, from California. It was July but I somehow carved out peace in such a tourist town. We enjoyed earlier dinners and also went to Pompeii where I booked a private tour. It was the best time, even with the heat. The funny thing was I decided on Sorrento after seeing a woman on her YT channel show the last lemon grove in Sorrento owned by her family. We visited it and it was not as inspiring in person and she was not there. However, I just recognized that I had expectations that did not match reality and was still completely pleased with our trip. Thank you for helping people to have a better understanding of how to plan a trip.

Love your videos and seeing what your version of Positano is like 💛 Of course visiting as a tourist is going to be so different, can't believe people wouldn't realise that!! Would love to see how you plan the garden for each season, what you choose to grow, quantity of each crop and where to grow it in your garden... would be so so fascinating as you seem to have a great gardening system in place that produces a lot of crops 🌱

I AM SO HAPPY YOU WERE NOT BADLY HURT IN THIS FALL AS YOU RAN. You didn't realize it at the TIME after the fall , BUT...THE INFORMATION SHARED- IS PHENOMINAL... THE DANGER OF HOW YOUR SHOE GOT TANGELED IN THE WIDE LEGGED PANTS IS A LIFE SAVER FOR MANY. AS WE AGE BONES ARE VERY BRITTLE ( osteoporosis- most do not realize they have it) THE SLIGHTEST FALL CAN BE A BROKEN HIP SHOULDERS ...ETC. YOUNGER WOMEN NEED TO WATCH THE LENGTHS & WIDTHS OF ALL SLACKS.... THE HIGH HEEL SHOES GET CAUGHT...FACE HEAD AND OTHER INJURIES AS WELL. You and Carlo are wonderful. Nicki half the time I don't think you knowingly have any idea of all the good and joy you all share. THE PANTS INFO IS EXTREMELY VALUABLE...... FOR MANY IT IS A LIFE SAVER....every woman & man needs to have Dexa testing takes 4 mins..for osteoporosis which as it worsens there are life altering consequences..ruptured disc's..collapsed discs..serious surgeries..serious pain and worse. 5 yrs experience here. Exercise, proper diet- vits minerals good nutrition..low carbs..NO processed food..sugars THANKS TO YOU BOTH FOR BEING SUCH LOVELY CARING PEOPLE. NICKI YOU ROCK...

I wanted to comment on how good you are with editing. The right music for the mood you want to create. It’s brilliant Nicki. I love “The Love Boat” type of music you played. I was enjoying it so much and then the record player scratched and you fell. It was heartbreaking. So thankful you’re okay now. The comment about Positano. It’s strange as it’s obvious a tourist isn’t going to have the same experience as the locals.

Loved this episode! You are putting in so much hard work; people should start by appreciating that before writing a negative comment. I also love that you're keeping it real, showing your stumble on the beach and weeding the garden. With all the information that we have at our fingertips, it is very easy to do some research before you visit a place, so you know what to expect. Visiting a place like Positano you can expect lots of tourists during the high season, if that's not your cup of tea, then go during the quieter times! The skit was hilarious and brave! I'm working on a plan to move to Italy (taking my time) and hope to visit with you guys (don't worry, I do not expect you to just be around ;-)

Dear Niki and Carlo🌺 It is known that the locals always suffer in tourist cities, which are flooded with tourists every summer. I read that even recently, the number of tourists to Amalfi was limited to half, due to the inability to accommodate the large number of visitors and the huge traffic jams. After two years of the corona epidemic and peace for the residents, the Amalfi region was filled with tens of thousands of tourists, as well as in many places in the world, however, the tourists provide a livelihood for the local residents, whose main livelihood is based on tourism. Many restaurateurs, ship and yacht charterers benefit from the number of tourists and their money income increases. We love you, Nicky and Carlo from Israel💐❤️🌟🥂🏖

OMG! Is it not a given that visiting a place and living there are two different things! And yes, if you only give a place a few hours (such as day trips from cruise ships) vs choosing to stay longer so you can immerse yourself more by staying off the beaten path, grocery shopping, cooking, interacting with locals and the like, you will have a very different experience. Your videos are so authentic…not an advertisement for tourism. That’s why so many of us love and can’t wait for your next one. All that you are saying is the reason why I follow you! You both are real! Yes if I were given a gift of a trip on a tour boat or tour bus or anything else, to Positano, I’d accept it. I’d be a fool to turn it down, a taste is better than no food. but your Positano is thePositano I love. I love your hikes and the garden and the gardening. I love your picnics and lunches in the town.I love seeing you cook for your family and friends.I live in a city that in the last 20 years has become a tourist attraction. I know what it’s like to say “ I must go somewhere and then say oh no …too many tourists. Perhaps because our city is a very hilly city though not as hilly as yours (but there are certain areas) I watch tourist mill around downtown, when a huge cruise ship comes in. They wonder around, I see their faces; they’re wondering what the hell they’re doing around here, what is there to see anyway? They are afraid to venture beyond. I had the pleasure of living in German for a while with a German friend who took me on tours …by bus. I enjoyed the tours but the best part was when I could sneak away by myself and poke into the places that the tourist didn’t poke into. I visited Venice this way. I knew it would be the only opportunity I got to visit, so I went. I trailed behind, peeping into alleys and looking up at roofs and windows etc I couldn’t speak German and couldn’t understand what the guide was saying..But I had researched it before I went.I was lucky enough to have access to a computer so I was prepared. What I wouldn’t have given for the time to walk around the back alley’s and the different districts, take a ride on a gondola even though I know it’s overrated and over priced but I would’ve liked to have had that experience. Well I was quite old when I made those trips and the lady I visited couldn’t walk very long distance so I did have to taylor my expectations.. I just love watching KZfaq videos about Italy and two of my favourite videos to watch are “Leave all and wander” and yours. I love your Positano. By the way we have many Rocky beaches and I really felt for you when you fell. I’ve done that. Keep on documenting your life … I enjoyed your little play but but I’m sure they’ll be somebody who will take exception to it. You haven’t succeeded until that happens.

Your comments and video about the clueless tourists were just perfect! We live in the southern US and those people are the same ones who go to Disneyworld in the middle of summer carrying a small child and then complain about the long lines and the heat! They also expect to see you and get invited to your home as though you are tight friends! My husband and I are past our traveling years and that is why we love everything about your channel. We look forward to Sunday when we can sit in the den with a glass of wine and "pretend" we are in Positano. We love the feel of the bare feet as you walk through the garden, eat your delicious simple pastas and watch the antics of Holly and Indie. We love how you love your family members and friends like Elizabeth, your visits to your dad, and your animal companions. We have been concerned about Holly's cat and her vision. What happened? Is there nothing that can be done? Anyway, just wanted to say we love you and hope you continue to enjoy life.

🇨🇦 Greetings from the Canadian Rockies! You may already know this but the rock figures along your hike are called Inukhsuk. It is very common to see them while hiking in the mountains here as locals and tourists alike build them along the trail. The Inukhsuk (pronounced ih-nook-suuk) mirrors the Canadian spirit of friendship and community. There are many kinds of Inuksuit (plural for Inukshuk), and they mean different things depending on how and where they are built. Traditionally, they were used by the Inuit in the north as directional markers. An Inukshuk in the shape of a person signifies safety, hope and friendship. These stone sculptures were also important for navigation, as a point of reference, as a marker for hunting grounds, or to denote a food cache. They were visible in snowy conditions, can endure extreme weather and, ultimately, can help people survive. However, these days I think tourists just build them for fun lol Thank you for bringing your beautiful and positive energy into our home for the last year. We appreciate your peaceful content and great sense of humour! Sending love from our home to yours ❤
