Lift the footbrake pedal up with your foot to stop the handbrake warning. There is a gas strut that always goes bad on the footbrake so it does not come up enough. 👍

This is correct. The strut is inexpensive and easy to replace.

Dad had one of these - thrashed it and stood strong, the hydraulic suspension broke but engine stayed really strong.Great car! Can do this then run 100mph on the motorway!

Actually I've done 150mph (GPS) with mine on the Autobahn 160 on the speedo and she had more to give. The engine at that time sat at around 112K miles on the odometer. At 100mph she just cruises happily.

Really liking this mini series! I had one as courtesy car when my Passat went in for a service once, turns out it was a Touareg R50 which has this engine but a few more sporty bodystyling bits. Not sure I would like to own one unless I had the facilities and knowledge you guys do, but but it was a lot of fun for a day! I'm amazed how good it is off-road!

Extend any floor mounted ecu and wiring to a high point, snorkel, cut bumpers to 3/4 length and job done

It sounds more like the 2.5 R5 TDI, but it is a deeper sound. Straight 5 and V10 sound similar.

Looks like you picked up a metric tonne of mud on the ol' Taureg, I knew that the V10 would be the perfect engine off-road and pull you through almost anything. 👍

I'm impressed, I did call that you'd ruin the bumpers, crap catchers indeed, but still a lot better performance than I expected. A lot of the credit needs to go to Ryan for being just concerned enough to not properly wreck it on the first outing. Good stuff.

We need to send you the valve stem remover gauge, let's you deflate fast. You should try 19-22psi some time.

Strange how quiet TDIs seem to be for how good they sound. Quiet at least compared to how loud american diesels usually are when they have an exhaust

Great series ! We have a couple of touaregs and Q7’s that we off-road ! They are incredible capable . We are in the West Midlands So if ever in the area give a shout :) ! For the fuel tank add a metal skid plate ! A broke the straps of my Touareg one and learned my lesson , on the q7 I have added the metal plate !

Giver her a small suspension lift on high end shocks for a bit more flex and have the bodyshop fab up some bigger Darkside Custom fenders to fit some 35x12.5" tires. If you could sell some aftermarket fenders afterwards even better. A decent amount of people would buy them since its not TDI specific either.

Some rock rails and big skidplate might be good protection too. Otherwise you may want to keep a welder close by cause something will get smashed eventually and break. The Touareg has alot of capability to become a true cross country offroad competitor.

Fixed my handbrake gas strut with a cheap one made for kitchen cupboards, miles cheaper and does the same job.

Running 60psi will ruin the centre part of your tyres, with my 35s n all the other off-road tyres I’ve ever had which has been loads I literally run 30psi for driving and for off-roading n has always given me good even wear! The vw done really well

@@ryanp6138 you’ll also find that when they’re to hard off-road you’ll knock the crap out of your car as the the shock will be transferred into the car, you’d be surprised how much shock the tyre takes! Also clear silicone round your rim to tyre as stones get in n make your tyres flat, it’s well annoying as u have to pop the tyre from the bead to get the bloody stones out!

That wee hill at 15:30, if you could click 2nd quickly you'll find it grapple its way up. More revs more meters as some might say Same with while doing doughnuts, click it up a gear and you'll really be away

Your parking brake strut needs replacing. It looks like the sensor still thinks it's on. Hold the release lever and lift the handbrake with the top of your foot. Thats how I got around it till I replaced it

We took the sensor out instead as that was faulty!

Heya. Im seriously toying with idea kf a V10 TDI. The handbrake bleep is probs a fault with the electronic system code it out on the old vagcom?

its the return strut going soft

That strut is like the a small hood hydrulic strut and they tend to go soft overtime and don;t disengage the footbreak completely. I used to lift the footbrake with my foot to stop it (then it stays there - no probs). The stut can be replaced (I did mine) in about a minute. Easy fix and cheap. A 12 euro item.
