SOME RV CHECK INS AND CHECK OUTS ARE A SMOOTH AND WELCOMING EXPERIENCE. SOME ARE NOT. Come with us as we show you an example of a really tight winding exit for our 44 foot motorhome and tow vehicle from the Pismo Coast Village RV Resort. This place is an awesome place to stay at to tour the quaint town of Pismo Beach CA. We will also show you what can happen if you show up at a campground early by mistake before the published, enforced, set in stone, no holes barred, dead serious check in time. "No Soup for You!

Mark I’m right there with you first impressions of the new place on your first visit are always what stick with you... I guess they didn’t realize that social media is a huge huge communicator when people are not enjoying their experience. It was nice that they offered you a 10% discount. This place is probably not going to be added to our list....

It is a nice place. Very big. Lots of kids in the pools, so retired folks like us felt out of place. Lots of rules. Great water & power. Great landscaping. Good location. Wouldn't mail a letter for us. We had to drive 20 minutes to the post office.

@@OurJourneyInMyles glad to see their prices have stabilized some. I tried to make a reservation there in May 2020, rates were in the 140-160 range. The place is not all that. There are some very good, maybe better places near to where you were in Paso Robles with better prices. It’s nice to see their attempt to make it right, however that first impression was not smart on their part at all. I usually spend 4-6 months a year in Paso for work and stay in our fifth wheel RV. Safe travels 🇺🇸

I have never heard of an early check-in fee. Hotels don’t even do that. And no one would consider a 1/2hr early enough to even suggest an additional fee. I certainly would have the same feeling as you-I would chat with the manager/owner before I left the check-in spot. Truly amazing experience and wouldn’t have believed you if it hadn’t been recorded. Hi, Mark we are new to OJIM and really enjoying it. Found your site by accident while trying to research a Paso winery. You and Sue are great. We live in Southern California and make a few trips a year to Paso Robles with our 5th Wheel. We love the Wine Country RV Resort down the street off Hwy 46. They are far more down to earth at Wine Country. Watching your check in experience confirmed our decision that Cava Robles is not for us. Good for you not giving to their extortion ways. Btw, discovered watching The Tobin James episode we were there around the same time on the same day. We checked if we made it into any background shots. lol.

Not being an RV owner as of yet, but seriously looking at the choices, the slow methodical driving in unfamiliar locations is priceless… As for that 25 minutes early, I think I’d have simply left while searching for a more accommodating location. Sorry you had to discover the reality of cava. Next trip through you should try to reserve wine country RV it’s very very nice it’s quiet and the rates are way better. Also they are a member of passport USA which gets you 50% off with a reservation. Our experience at cava was the firewood that they sold was green so everybody’s camps were smoking the golf cart rental was full of kids speeding around the entire resort and it was very noisy. We won’t be going back. Thomyt

I commend you Mark for your positive disposition. Like you, we've been "burned" at Sun Resorts before with their additional charges. Unfortunately Sun Resorts has bought up some of California's finest RV resorts and jacked the prices up in the air plus all their other fees. Want to reserve a special site? Oh you have to pay a "lock" fee of $35 - $45. Arrive early? Oh you have to pay $25 for that also. Since you arrived on a Thursday I'm sure you discovered when the weekend arrived there at Cava it turned into a complete zoo. We stayed there a couple months ago and I'm sorry to say, never again.

Two things I would note. But this is just my opinion. First I would have left the park then hooked up our toad. Like you, we have a 45' Newmar LADP and in over 30 years experience in rv's we've had to do this several times. Also, by the looks of this resort their reservation confirmation should have shown check in and check out time. If it didn't shame on them and you had every right to be upset. A buck a minute is ridiculous.
@OurJourneyInMyles

We had no issue coming in at Pismo Coast Village, but the exit was tricky. I have driven out of parks many times, and connected up later. The check in time WAS on the reservation for Cava. We are from Florida, so getting the timing just right was a little tough. We will not be early again at places if we can help it.

Believe it or not, but up to that point we never really ever had an issue. That might have been because we may have never gotten to a place before 2pm! We’ve stayed at Cava several times and are going back next month. Why? Because it the nicest park in the Paso. Sun Resorts owns this park and two others in Paso plus 140+ across the country. I assume all the extra charges are set by the company. When you call to make a reservation and you want to be in a certain area or be next to friends, there’s a fee to lock in your request. These corporate parks seem to be following what hotels are doing with resort fees, paid parking, etc.

Hello guys. I’m such a fan of your channel. Thank you very much for every single video posting. I have a stupid newbie question. In this video you talked about losing rubber while you were turning. On your Dutch Star, do you have passive steer tag axles? Do you have the capability to raise up your tag axle? I’m assuming that the answer to both questions is NO. But, if you can raise the tag axle, why don’t you do it or why wouldn’t someone do it? I’m very green at this and I apologize. I just ordered my new coach on May 12th and it has active steer on the tag axles. It doesn’t have the capability to raise the tag axle. Thank you ahead of time for answering this comment. Please continue your great work. I wait for your posting religiously… :)…
@OurJourneyInMyles
@OurJourneyInMyles 3 жыл бұрын
You are all set with your passive steer tag! I can release the air to my tag axle support bags. It actually happens automatically in reverse. You will really NEVER wear out your tag axle tires. In 6 to 7 years you will have to replace them due to age. They WILL be more rounded over at the edges compared to your other tires.
