Friday! Final day of our Water Mixable Oils Week! We may need to revisit these paints, maybe trying out other brands and perhaps some water miscible mediums in the future, but for now we're sticking with the WN ones. I figured that even though the squishiness is a bit of an issue with the paint consistency (they're not quite buttery, not quite stiff... maybe something like slightly microwaved play-doh?), I noticed that if I put enough paint down it starts to handle quite nicely. So today I wanted to try and do something akin to those wonderful Krøyer profile portraits, and while I was painting Fer she sort of reminded me of a young Anna Ancher, and I ended up talking a bit about her, an extraordinary painter, in today's vid! Love how a simple little profile can take us to turn of the century Skagen! Painting is a magical thing.
