Thanks for taking the time to discuss this very complicated, difficult film. You're one of the few people in the movie collecting community who has talked about it. At least, I haven't come across too many videos about it, but maybe I'm just missing them. It's hard to say I like this film, because so much of it is hard to watch. But I certainly think it's a brilliant piece of work, and I posted a video of my own encouraging people to see it. Linda Manz is phenomenal. There simply hasn't ever been anyone else like her in the movies. She didn't do all that much acting, and I've only seen her in this and Days of Heaven. It could be said that she has a narrow range as an actress, but within that range she is quite impressive, and it's impossible to take your eyes off of her. Watching this story, I keep waiting for something good and positive to happen to this poor kid. The only joy she really has is when she gets to play the drums at the rock concert. The other characters in the story are so broken, so sad and pathetic, and also totally believable. Sharon Farrell has always been a talented, underrated, and underused actress. As for Dennis Hopper, what can be said? I look at this movie and mourn the fact that this brilliant, tortured artist is no longer in this world. I find myself appreciating Dennis Hopper more and more as the years go by. One of the best things about this release is the collection of extra features, most of which I haven't gotten to yet. The long interview with Hopper would be worth the price of the package alone. I could listen to him speak all night. There is also an excellent interview with another of my favorite actors, Ethan Hawke, who talks about his personal experience with Hopper. I need to get back into this package and watch all the features! By the way, if you'd like to see another film about a difficult, troubled teenager, I recommend a 1999 film called Joe the King, directed by Frank Whaley. It stars Val Kilmer, Ethan Hawke, John Leguizamo, and a brilliant young actor named Noah Fleiss as Joe. Not a well-known film, but it should be.

NP! I was undecided if I should review this film. Then I sat back and thought about how this film really stayed on mind afterwards. I said to myself I need to discuss this one. I really couldn’t tell if I actually liked this film at first because it is so dark. I ended up really enjoying it. It definitely is an excellent piece of work. Linda Manz definitely stills the shoe in this film. Sharon Farrell and Dennis Hopper are Great and really believable in this one. That’s why I was so angry in this one because nothing positive was happening for this little girl. Then I said to myself this is very realistic. Exactly Dennis Hopper was so talented and creative. He shined in this flick. Cool! I’m going to look for your video and hear your take on the film.I watched a few of the special features but I still need to watch that Hopper interview. I saw the Ethan Hawk one and it’s really Good. He talks about how Hopper was a one of a kind talent. I’m definitely going to look out for Joe The King. I’ve never heard of it. Thanks for the Recommendation and Support. Take Care Buddy.

I got this film stocked at my local library and saw this for the first time last night. I first heard about it three years ago when there was a crowdfunding campaign to have it restored and released. This should be on Criterion Channel, but as of this time, it's not streaming anywhere. I'm glad this film is getting more visibility now. I'm glad I went into it knowing very little about it other than it being a punk adjacent/teen rebellion film. The direction it takes by the end had me surprised. A true underrated classic. I recommend going into this blind. Just know that you're in for a heavy viewing experience.

Sounds like a hard hitting film. I don’t think Dennis Hopper gets enough credit as a Director. Awesome review!
