The first time I was in Churchill was in 1980. I hitched a ride with the guy who owned the Arctic Trading Company. I took the train then to Winnipeg. I stopped off there several times since on my way to Rankin Inlet. The place I knew in 1980 has changed a lot. Gone modern like everywhere else in the far north.

It was nice to see more of the trail work that you two did Dave. Norm has some really nice country up there. Would like to see that some day. Glad you had the opportunity to spend some time up there. Those sandvick brush axes are the best for cutting trail, been using one for years.

When under ice trapping for beavers, have you found that entrances into the beaver lodges are commonly found in compass direction(like northeast or west or any direction)? Was curious if you ever noticed such a thing....

I have not found anything like that at all. The only thing I have figured out was that on bigger water you rarely find a beaver house on the east shore if the normal wind is from the west. Unless it is in a sheltered bay.

Pan slower...best advice ever, lol..just sayin'. I would have liked to seen the original map you copied the overlay from..I'm a map guy, could stare at 'em for hours. . I enjoyed your toolin' around town, even got to see my buddy Charlie's boat, up on blocks behind the giant building, lol. I am also in agreement, that Horseshoe creek definitely has ballz!!! You couldn't have had a better guide for your adventure Dave, guess it behooves me to undertake Norm's pro offer as well..to stand where no man has ever stood.

We drove around some but didn't have time to get out and inspect to much. I got off the train and was on the snowmobile in less than an hour and then back and spent the night before boarding the train again.
