will gluing every side of the joint cause any expansion issues? Curious if any twisting or warping happens since this will be outdoors and exposed to the elements. Unless the table is small enough to not be enough movement to matter?

As one who hates tablesaws, this is easy to do with a bandsaw. As a totally untrained kid, the castle joint was the first serious joint I ever made. I had never even seen one before. I figured it out for myself and made it with (some) low quality hand tools. It could have been a lot better but it was a great start.

I’m so happy and relieved you’re showing the castle joint on the table saw only! As a matter of fact I’d love to see plenty more joints from the table saw if you’re willing to demonstrate?! No shame in that whatsoever, I like chisels etc. but like you I’d rather have a more easy and consistent method to utilize over hand cutting each and every joint.

absolutely perfect video on how to do castle joints. I have been making cutting boards for years but always wanted to learn how to make furniture but the joinery has always deterred me. over the last two or three months I've gotten serious about it. Couple times a week I would look at a video on basic joinery, hoping it would grab me, but I could never find one that inspired me, or seem to be doable to me for my first table base until I saw this one. Early last night, I went for it. Following this video step-by-step, which was very easy to do, but you get to the important points right away. There's not a bunch a jib jab about stuff that has nothing to do with the project. It's just precise and to the point and wanted. My table base came out absolutely perfect. And I am now hooked on making furniture. Thanks to you and this video. Well, I should say the second table base came out perfect. The first leg I made on the first base I hugged out all the material and moved onto the second leg and the third leg and the fourth leg just going off my marks. Obviously, I paused your video and missed the part that makes total sense about the importance of not moving the fence..ooops. Needless to say everything was off just a little bit, but the second go I watch the entire video from start to finish and then went back and follow the steps and I couldn't be happier with the results. Thank you very much.
