i definitely agree that the pope/kie storyline was unnecessary. it was very random and the thing is they weren't even a couple, the writers basically just made them hook up to show they weren't compatible. i wish they would've just focused on building jj and kie's relationship since early season 2 instead but it is what it is... despite the complaints, i actually like the way they developed kie and jj's relationship this season. also jj definitely lashed out at kie and obviously that's not right and she didn't deserve it but also given his backstory and the situation he's in currently, it's understandable. he's self-sabotaging and thinking he's not good enough for her. kie was still really patient and understanding, honestly props to her for the way she handled that.

I agree that I ultimately wish Pope and Kiara wouldn’t have happened, but it did because the creators didn’t fully know what they wanted to do with all the relationships yet. Once Jiara blew up and they decided to explore that going into season 2, they had to finish the story between Kie and Pope, and I think they honestly did a pretty good job handling it and ending it as best as they could. The creators wanted to put JJ and Kie together in season 2, but didn’t because they needed to give some time between Kie and Pope, and I think that was a good decision. It also allowed for Jiara to be more of a slow burn, because there were a lot of hints about them in season 2 and even some in season 1. Season 3 just feels right for them to finally get together. Honestly, Jiara and Cleope have so much chemistry and such great stories, that Pope and Kie seem like a distant memory at this point. I just love the angst between Jiara as well. It’s totally understandable that JJ would initially push Kiara away. He’s lived his whole life thinking he doesn’t deserve anything good, let alone someone like Kie. Even though he’s had a crush on her since the first season, he never dreamed she would ever like him back. It’s definitely something he’ll continuously have to work through going forward. Realizing that he actually does deserve to be happy. I love that Kie doesn’t ever give up on him either. She makes it known that she understands and that she will always fight for him. They just make so much sense as a couple. The actors who play them also ship Jiara, just so you guys know.

JJ really has it the worst, I feel so bad for him. Coming home to an eviction notice is the last straw. He literally has lost everything and now his home. I wish the storyline with Pope and Kie wouldn't have happened. I just feel like Kiara and JJ have more chemistry and are more alike. We can't really count John B and Kiara's kiss because first of all he was the one who kissed her and she backed away immediately. Plus, he started a relationship with Sarah pretty soon after that. It was more of a flirty let's see if we can be more than friends, but I don't think that he had strong feelings for her. Pope obviously did and Kiara wanted to try to like him because it's him, he's her friend and a good guy but ultimately she didn't have those types of feelings for him, which she let him know right after. It's understandable for Pope to be upset or hurt but like Kiara said they had already talked about it and decided to stay friends. JJ also talked to Pope, so I don't see anything wrong with it. JJ deserves happiness and so does Kie.

man, i felt so bad for john b, i'm ngl. boy was traumatized watching his father murder those guys and then have to help get rid of the bodies. and i agree, the pope/kie thing was pretty unnecessary. i can understand it from the angle where maybe the writers wanted to show a relatonship that DIDN'T work out because that's real. you don't always end up with the right person from the start, so i like to think of it that way.

Scenes that pointed to how JJ feels about Kie: 1x01 when he damn near pressured John B to ask Kiara out bc he couldn’t stand to see Kie being all soft & caring towards John B after his father disappeared 1x04 when JJ smiled after John B tells him that Kie rejected his kiss 1x10 when JJ looked heartbroken after he sees Kie kissing Pope 2x03 when JJ damn near pressures Kiara to give Pope a chance bc he believes Pope is a good guy for her (but then we see him look heartbroken when Kie kisses Pope on the cheek goodnight) 2x8 when JJ tells his dad “did you have to go after her like that? Everything I have you freaking ruin” after he sees how upset Kie was being in the car w/ Luke 2x10 when JJ quite literally jumped in front of a knife for Kie All these scenes have one thing in common. JJ thinks Kie is too good for him & he could never deserve her so he pushed her on to his two best friends who he considers to be worthy & better than he ever could be. JJ’s character really breaks my heart bc he is the first one willing to risk everything he is & has for his friends/family. So pure-hearted & yet he sees himself as this lowlife loser. Kie knows this & I think maybe that’s why she never pushed him, until now bc that one month being alone on the island probably made JJ the most relaxed & himself he’s ever been making him more open to letting himself be more accepting to Kiara’s signals. Once they got back, he got a taste of his reality & lashed out on the main thing that made him happy on the island. Sad af 😔

Everyone knows in high school tv shows there are large friend groups that mix & match until they know for sure who are just friends & who are the couples. yeah nathan ur valid, i wish the pope/kie storyline didnt exist either. I think the writers didn't know they fucked up until they realized no one was shipping them and everyone was shipping kiara and jj which they weren't initially going for. They had to find a way to wrap up that storyline in season 2. Cleo was supposed to be for JJ originally (which is crazy to think about now) as annoying as it is, I try to look past it and enjoy jiara for what they are now

I'm again with Nathan in this episode. I also think they should never have started the Pope Kiara thing. Yes, Kie is dope and beautiful. So I don't blame the guys. But she should have just remained a friend, one of the Pogues in season 1 with the potential to get a love interest and then see who it is in season 2. And then the producers would have noticed that many viewers love the chemistry between Jiara. Why was the kiss between John B and Kie necessary? Also just to create tension between Sarah and Kie, but in the end the kiss was never a question anyway. And Cleo is hired by hayward, totally beautiful and plausible to me too
