I feel ya, the same thing happened to me yesterday while I was practising the mines. To avoid that just make sure you don't start your crawl while facing a corner of the map And yeah, sorry for a very late response :D this game still has some glitches and crashes

First I died from missing a jump, then I died by not getting out of the shed quick enough, then Marta killed me right before getting the hook, then I died from not walking properly on the bridge and now I died from one of Nicks arrows. Too true, it's what puts me off doing more than a run a day. Just having to brave through nearly 30 minutes of cutscenes until the end of chapter one kills me. Whenever I walk into the church I just hide and clean my room for 5 minutes lol

I read that Redbarrels said that it’s not something to patch because the cutscenes are already part of the game play. They’re not video files so there’s no way that they’re gonna be able to patch it. It really sucks.

Not bothered with the game at all based on that and reviews, plus I now refuse to play any game where one of the trophies requires you to do a whole game run without dying. Too much potential for things to go wrong, be it game freezes, power cuts, time constraints or just flat out fuckery in the game. Outlast 1 could be done in about an hour, that wasn't bad and some of it's quirks could be exploited to make it a bit more fun in an otherwise scenario where frustration would usually set in. Attempting this in about 2-3 hours though? Nah. Wolfenstein 2 is similar, one shot to do the game and unskippable cutscenes, no thanks, lost a customer there.

In the Chapter 1 inner demon school scene, when you are running up and down the hallway between the exit sign and the locked door, you no longer need to flash your night vision to trigger the jump scare to progress. If you continue to go up and down the hallway (around 5 ish times. hard to count in the dark lol), the game will open the side room for you to exit the school scene without the jumpscare triggering. Save your cam battery!

It doesn't matter anyways. you can use your camera freely up until Nick and Laird steal your camera without worrying about battery. Even if you had no battery leading up till the camera theft, when you get it back you'll have 3 quarters of battery regardless

I loved doing this in Outlast 1 but I just don't have the patience to do this with Outlast 2. I guess a part of me feels the game isn't as good to warrant the trial/error of going through this and wasting potentially hours on it. I admire the hell out of all of you who have done this though - truly! Be proud.

Got the platinum three times, for three different people (including myself). And I was completely convinced after my third successful run that I am now officially done. Outlast 2 on Insane with one battery is still one of the craziest game-related feats I've ever pulled off.

You're so on the edge that you die even while going through the easiest moments.. this is what makes the insane run absolutely petrifying. Beat the game in Nightmare whithout hiding in a locker or a barrel. Not even a devilish chance I'm gonna try this in insane or I'll become insane.

I personally beat the game with 100% completion in nightmare without hiding in a locker nor a barrel. An awesome run even though I discovered that several passages were insanely difficult for I DID first get killed randomly by several enemies that didn't even spot me after reloading the save and replaying the scene in the very same way. This is what makes the insane run out of reach to me. Of course the unskippable cutscenes are an absolute plague.

Hiding under the tent when triggering Nick and Laird to come after you at 25:00 doesn't work anymore. They pulled me out and killed me every time.

16:00 there doesn't seem to be a chase sequence here anymore, at least I have never seen it once in any of my playthroughs. Could be patched not sure. 43:00 There was an enemy for me in this room which I had to cut off by closing the door again behind me otherwise he would kill me while pushing the cart, there was also no chase sequence after that for me. 45:13 I think they patched this section as well, I wasn't getting chased here at all (only the first chase when you have to run to the bathroom), I could just immediately leave the stall after that and there was no demon, the priest was just standing behind all locked doors. 52:05 val isn't actually chasing you here, or did my game glitch? She stops and turns around as soon as you cross that gap right at the beginning.

@@orc3266you can if you have the disc version just don’t connect to internet I randomly found Outlast 1 with DLC outlast 2 all bundled in disc for ps4 at a pawn shop $10 killer deal The disc version appears to not have been like most games where it’s massed produced appears physical copies were limited

In the last school sequence you can just hide in a stall and wait for the demon to start banging on the door. When he does, you just crawl to the next stall and when he starts banging on that door you crawl back to the first stall and do this back and forth until the demon disappears.

Going back and picking up this trophy years later! I gave up on it when the game first came out. Your guides are awesome. I will say - at the Marta cart part, when Marta comes back around the third time, she no longer comes from behind. She comes through the hole she made in the fence, every time - at least for the past three or four times I’ve tried. It actually makes it a little easier because you can just dive over to the small hole in the fence and have her go all the way around again.

Just wanted to thank you for a very insightful tutorial. When I played the first time on PC, on normal, it took me over eight hours to finish going in blind. It was endlessly frustrating to be lost constantly and dying over and over. After watching your tutorials (also studied the collectables video) I went for my redemption on Xbox and cleared nightmare with all collectables in 3:36. It felt amazing to be able to go in and knock it out, and your videos made that happen. I don't think I'll ever clear insanity because I'm the world's worst platformer, lol. I can't jump to save my life (very literally). But I'll settle for nightmare and two deaths to my own awful jumping skill. Great job, thanks!

It bothers me more than it should that you call the cult members "heretics". The heretics are the guys in the mines, the others are not part of them. 31:10 this strategy is unpredictable. I've done exactly what he did, climbing out the window as Nick and Laird break through the window. Sometimes it works, other times I've gotten killed. Not a perfect strategy. I personally like to run to the side of the building but instead of climbing through window I crawl along the front of the building past the barbwire that leads to the ledge you need to shimmy across. For some reason when your crawling along that part he doesn't look your way, just watch and wait for him to walk away from the ledge. I've tested it a dozen times, I only died once

Just wanted to add a couple notes: 1. I highly recommend not attempting to sprint past the part where Laird snipes at you and instead just bait his arrows out. Not sure if it's something they changed between 1.03 and 1.04 but I seemed to get killed 50% of the time I tried just running through. As long as you play it safe (and don't forget to stop behind and use the small tree right before the end) you should be fine. 2. There's a second, smaller chase sequence in the 'Raining Blood' school segment that triggers upon exiting the shower room and going through the door at the top of the stairs where Loutermilch will spawn right to your left. While all you have to do is simply run right and turn a corner, I feel it's worth mentioning because if someone is caught unprepared, they could die there.

This is absolutely soulcrushing. I've died twice now from the Nick and Laird encounter right before he ends up falling down and dying, and it is absolutely frustrating me. I think I'm doing everything right, the first time I died there was a Scalled coming down by the campfire and straight up ran towards me right after removing the rope. The second time there were a two Scalled right by the last house before completing the encounter. I was so close.

When jumping out of the window at 12:35 i found that jumping toward the fence for some reason makes you take no damage.

If people wondering what all the changes are there are really only like 3 otherwise the strategies all stay the same. First being the chase sequence when you hide under the bed and allowing the guy to burst through the door, as you make your way into the next room the enemy does not spawn at the stairs instead he spawns in the room downstairs so go down the stairs and hide under a bed and allow him to pass. Second being right after being crucified you need to heal your hands, at this point instead of training the one enemy that one enemy doesn't exist so you can easily crawl through the log that someone is sitting on. Third being when you drop down and Nick and Laird walk down a path leading to a slanted log where you have to climb up, at this part no enemies exist and you can freely run. Just got the platinum yesterday thanks for the helpful guide! :D

What was the biggest change in the mines because in terms of strategy nothing changed for me in the mines other than the one power switch one of the wooden walls was deleted.

Oh okay I was unaware of that interesting, my previous strategy was to run down hall to trigger the on enemy to run at you and then run back to that side room near the light and stand in the door and then peak back out to get his attention and then run into the crack in the wall and slowly slide and shimmy down until i saw an enemy walk by the crack and then ran to the minecart painlessly but thanks for the correction and also thanks for the walkthrough! Glad to put this game behind now lol until a potential dlc thats gonna ask for an insane completion :(

Thanks for the patience to do it again and by the way I had a extra 3 seconds at the door after the chapel sometimes before the patch enough to open the door to just run in, so I don't know if what you experienced was luck or not or maybe they did change it. Was able to do it on my first try after practice - thanks for the strats. It seems like they completely removed the chase after you leave the confessional - all 4 times I did it in prac nobody chased...I did wait slightly longer than your video but yeah. Also seemed like maybe they removed the 2nd part of the hardest school segment when you leave the bathroom stall. I never looked behind me but there was no noise or any chase music any of the times I did it.

I bugged through the water and died at the Underwater mine parts with Val.... might be a good idea to turn your camera on and off at that part to make sure you dont hug too much walls in the dark

wish i'd watched video before i tried my insane runs! i got to the first mine encounter but didn't know they changed it so i died there... i thought i died because the heretic chasing me caught up to me but then i did another insane attempt and got to the same place... died again but this time saw the heretic waiting to one shot me in the middle of the tunnel. it sucks man

36:50 there is actually a reflection, that you can’t see here, but it is there, and you can save some battery by turning off the camera, and when the reflection dissapears. Climb up

Alex Castellon Yes I avoided the chase too.You have to wait till everyone exits the area,then when you leave the confessional you have to run toward the exit of the chapel. It worked 100% of the time for me

You forgot during 37:15 after you climb out of the pool amd progress through that school sequence, you still get chased by the demon. I assumed I was safe and hesitated for a second and he grabbed me because your video didnt mention anything. Killed me. Trying again tomorrow.

You forget the part after 37:00 (The Pool). The part where you get chased after running from the restrooms. Didn’t think I would get killed since you didn’t include that segment, but I got lost and died being chased.

As Soon as you pick up your glasses immediately start running through the opening before Nick and Laird block it off. If you're quick about it you should have time, you will take damage, but you won't die. I find hiding in that part is unpredictable.

Wow I didn't noticed this video, I was going off the old one though I knew there was a patch that changed stuff. I did my own thing at places but I died by the third arrow crossing the fallen tree. I had to stop behind the big rock. Poke my head out till he took a shot then ran. I also died at the very end. I went too quick & she cut me off. Did this part 15 times & it never happened once. Seems like another patch after this one has completely cut out a couple of chases.

guys i found that in 40:30 after you trigger the demon you can head back to the same door you walked in the library and stayed there for about two seconds the demon will be gone, that can make you do the library maze without being chased but be careful that you’ll see the demon here 40:50

in the latest patch they took out the chase portion in Blake against the machine. they no longer chase you

You actually don't have to trigger the jumpscare at 21:59. You can wait without using night vision, until you hear Blake dying (even though he isn't, it's kinda weird). Afterwards, the jumpscare won't appear and the door is there. This has happened to me twice (the first time I waited in front of the exit, refusing to use night vision, the second time I waited in a locker), I don't know if it's always happening, though. (I don't feel like testing it again. I really hate that hallway)

As soon as the lockers start going crazy, hide inside one of them and wait for 1 minute and 3 seconds. Then, you'll hear Blake dying and you can exit the hallway. No night vision required. I haven't seen anyone else talk about this anywhere, which is kind of awkward to me...

If you look backwards while running (l1) you can simply run across the ledges and save a lot of time. :)
