By the way, look up Fae lore. Internet Archive has an awesome book where you can look up a lot of folklore and motifs. It might help. On the changeling idea it's a common part of mythology and folklore tied to Fae, so your not really copying Holly here. Also in your document you could do a separate section called Things To Remember and put all the live stream notes there and sort them out later on.

1:29:56 I haven’t watched the whole stream yet so I don’t know if anyone mentions this but with the changeling thing it would be cool if she also found out she was swapped with a human baby (since that’s what usually happens in most changeling lore/myths) Edit: watched some more. In scandi culture (I’m Swedish) babies were called changelings when they had a disability/looked different from fathers (like after an affair) so maybe the real daughter (if you decide to go that route) doesn’t have to look like her at all. Also on a whole other note I personally love strong sibling bonds so I’d prefer her being close to her sister rather than them not loving her.

This is great! I do like the idea that she is a changeling and doesn’t connect with her family as a way of making her fear be she can’t be loved, even if they do accept her she feels like she doesn’t belong. She should have a reason for feeling like she can’t be loved, I don’t think someone from a happy home would feel that way

@bethanyatazadeh I stumbled across this from your 5 mistakes self publishing video...my apologies but I've not read your stuff...yet! As I listened to your brainstorming I realised I'm missing out on you! From your videos...where should I start watching you? Over the years I've started writing several stories but either life or myself got in the way. The closest I got was last year I had several chapters not just completed but edited! Then completely random that file got corrupted! I've been using computers for many years and never had that happen...I even took it in to a repair place...it's completely gone. What kind of computer do you use? Besides Google docs what other programs do you use? Have you written the book you are discussing in this? Did you write follow up stories for each of the "friends"? What titles have you written? Love your energy and enthusiasm!

I like the idea of the changeling takes the place of the deceased baby. This will give some fairies in your world the good attribute you're wanting and I feel like its important to have good vs bad to highten the world (if your wanting the world to become a better place by the end of the story) The good purposely aid in removing the loss of a family member in a sense and maybe more things. Like use their abilities to change some ill fated human that would lose every in some way and they change their fate because the human has a good heart. Showing they have compassion and it builds even more on the love and trust aspect I feel. I'll re-watch a second time give more comments. I just noticed this so far through the first watch. I like Reeds name. I find it fun to play on Mara and her secret identity name as Callie. I also like the idea of changling expose to be at the end. The question I have is in faire world where she goes to the castle, mansion, (I can't remember the last possible location) would there be a school for fairies (that are selected to keep the deals with humans). Maybe fairies have to attend school or even have a group to learn how contracts, glamour, etc works and in order to keep the faire courts decision on contracts. This fairy court could be broken up into the dark fantasy elements and the light can be the good fantasy elements of the fairy. Aka broken due to something. In a sense of a series (if you want) maybe she secretly attends the good academy (club) then is undercover with Reed in sneaking into the bad academy (club) which they have to get info, object of some sort in order to restore contacts to the original which doesn't cause some harm in a sense but causes weird events. This could give a better world vibe.

Can you use the Google Docs Outline feature for your organization? You can make headings and sub-headings, like Characters/Mara, Reed, etc. This way, you can at least jump to the section you think a note goes and keep them separated like that. Might help.

Watching the replay, I would be wary of using ACOTAR as a comp title, unless you make it duper clear it's non-spicy. Most reviews I've read make it seem like ACOTAR is synonymous with spice 🙃

I might consider a different comp is because when I first heard you say ACOTAR was a comp, that was a turn off for me because I don't do spice either. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Also, I'm editing.

Watching the livestream. At 1:28 currently. What if the family doesn’t know she’s a changeling, but they figure it out when the deal’s magic doesn’t work on her? Her being fae is the reason she’s not taken as part of the deal. The deal magic doesn’t account for her, so that’s why the fae don’t know they left a family member behind. Edit: Just saw this idea came up later. 👍🏼

I know you guys talked about this during the live but for your first Brainstorming question about comp titles, I would say ACOTAR wouldn’t be a good comp. I think people think of the ACOTAR books for the romance and it is a spicer romance and if your book doesn’t have that also it could be misleading. Maybe compare it to Cruel Prince or a K. M. Shea book (she’s big in the indie fairytale retelling scene and her romances are clean/sweet.)

What if she is somehow cloaked from her “abilities”? This goes back to doing things accidentally and it could play into her need NOT to be controlled because she senses something is off.

For the Phoebe character, how about naming her "Penelope" but instead of pronouncing it [PUH] + [NEL] + [UH] + [PEE] she introduces herself as [PEH] + [NEE] + [LOH] + [PE] as she's a free spirit that doesn't care what people thinks about her. Plus her friends can call her "Penny" for short ^_^

Maybe her family hates fairies too, and it doesn't matter that she came to save them, suddenly she's the enemy. This leads to her feeling utterly alone and abandoned.

Maybe her mom knew she was a changeling, but her mom died without telling anyone. Maybe she left just a shred of writing that survived in the fae world.

Enemies to lovers but she is the only one that thinks they are enemies is creepy, unless she likes him back and believes he thinks they are enemies.

Hmmm I think maybe we're reading it differently, because I don't think it's creepy at all. In fact, I just read the popular book Fourth Wing where they did exactly that and it was amazing!

@@BethanyAtazadeh it's not creepy if you don't think about it. But when you do it's gross. When someone indicates they don't have interest in someone else and that someone else keeps "going after" the person who doesn't want to be gone after. It can be done right but it's really hard. Haven't read fourth wing yet so cannot say there.
