Use them wide gap hooks Tom thay work Good I like 4/0 ones

For years I struggled finding good hooks to use locally in MN, whenever i buy (non carp specific) hooks at retailers carp will eventually bend them or dull them fairly quick. Now I only purchase mine online from carp specific European tackle outfits. Thicker Stronger more durable and stay sharper longer you should look into them, might be a bit more $$ but worth it over the long haul.

Thanks for the tip about the wind, those were sure some nice fish good to know they still bite at that water temp. I notice you sure have shallow lakes out there, our lakes can go down to 200 to over 300 feet, and can get deep just of the shore line. Thanks for the good video Tom

The elasticity of mono has been crucial to my personal carp fishing. Using running style in-lines, I believe a tighter line lay helps create the hookup far more efficiently than a true bolt style, imo. Having that said elasticity, with a lead falling away, puts a good deal of pressure to that hook point imo. I use khale/ Shinner hooks & a dough bait influenced with some nice ingredients. Pretty much a soluble, non-boiled boilie on the hook. Awesome vids man.

Have you ever been successful on extremely windy days (20-30mph winds)?

Yes, but it makes for very difficult fishing. Hard to keep baits pinned down with wind and waves, and bite indication is difficult as well. Generally I won't fish wind blown shorelines if over 20mph. The fish will be there though, it's not windy at the bottom of the lake. 😁

The windy shoreline thing applies to Bass, too. Is there a temp when they quit bitting, or is it just the ice?

When the water temp gets in the 40's, I stop carp fishing. They still eat during winter, just very little.

Will this drop the lead if your line breaks I'm thinking of fishing more this way in the uk. Carp fishing is getting expensive with boilies and other bits
