Happy birthday Yvonne!!! 🎊 🎉 I don’t mind fighting. I don’t love it in juniors, but having kids who don’t know how to fight end up in places where they need to know, that’s even worse. We watch some 16U and 18U players who don’t fight play a team from a league that does do some fighting…. It doesn’t end well. Watching the various levels that we do, it’s a necessary evil. The only thing worse than dirty fighting that doesn’t have a place in the game, are the fights that are so mismatched, especially if the person with the upper hand doesn’t let off the gas, so to speak.

In the 32 Thoughts episode about it they particularly mentioned 16 year olds ending up fighting 20 year olds and how that was a big part of why it made sense to get rid of it. Of course there will always be mismatches in fights whether it's size - 6'9", 250 lb Zdeno Chara got in a fight with 6'2", 205 lb Jeffrey Viel last year - or fighting skill.

I understand the arguments for both sides of fighting in the QMJHL. The scary thing is if a kid's long term health is affected, and there's no support for him

Awesome record! But I will stay with my opinion that Mario Lemieux would have had most scoring records if not for his many injuries, chrinical back pains and cancer. Lemieux proved more then enough his skills under 3 very different eras of professional hockey. The middle 80's, the 90's and middle 00's and despite all his challanges, he was still an awesome player skillwise and teamwise. Lemieux could make less tallented players raise above there limits to look better = a rare gift.

Happy to see fighting on its way out of the game. Apparently former fighter players like Enrico Ciccone have been pushing hard to yet fighting out in the QMJHL so when you have former players wanting it gone its safe to say it should finally be barred.

@@kevinbadger8030 what makes hockey?? It's useless now. Many former players want it gone. It puts people's careers and long term health at risk. I am happy it's being phased out. Just taking too long.

@@FINsoininen So it will be allowed only in two junior league in Canada but not in the rest of the world and it look like it will only an issue for players from the junior Quebec Ligue. Really start to look like in the old days when players from Quebec were seen as "soft"...

@@erictremblay3044 my point was that european players are not getting hurt from fighting because of their lack of experience. They might not be known for fighting but it only takes a few pointers from the veterans when you enter the NHL. Its actually very easy to protect yourself in a hockey fight if youre strong which most nhlers are.

@@FINsoininen I understood that. My original point was that US University are not allowing fight. European are not allowing fight. Nobody seem to be worried about them coming in the NHL and being hurt. Quebec junior league is going to banned fight and now it is a big fuss about when they will join the NHL they will be hurt in fight. So why this worrying about Quebec junior players but not about all the US an European players ???? Your point about European players I guess apply to US players too that do not "know" about fight when they join the NHL. Then, why this can not apply to Quebec players ???

I wouldn't mind at all if they just banned fighting completely. At best it's a scuffed pub brawl with two dudes pulling eachothers shirts. If people want to watch fighting, there are other sports for that. I'm here for hockey.

Happy Birthday Y-vonne! The only way to truly ban fighting is for it to result in expulsion from the league. You fight, you're off the ice forever. Anything else is just an effort to reduce. Just because you want fighting out doesn't mean you don't coach defending yourself when you're in one. Do it after a bag skate when they're too tired to hurt each other much.

I wouldn't consider a game misconduct for fighting a ban. Just stricter penalties. There will definitely be a fight in the Q next season. Do you receive a suspension if you fight late in the third period?
