the little gems we call 'gem squash' in South Africa. Its a main squash in our country. we eat like 200 each every season. Recipe - Cut them in half, boil for 10 minutes in water. Take out and place creamy sweetcorn inside and cheese on top. place that baby into the oven at 180 degrees celcius for 20 minutes... enjoy the feelings of your taste buds... hmmmmmmm

While I appreciate your comments, I have to admit, I was not an english major, nor have I specialized in spanish or french. I may massacre many of the words, but im not striving for grammatical correctness. If I had to perfectly pronounce all the names, I may not have made the video. The purpose of this video is to share ALL the varieties of squash that is available to open peoples eyes to all the heirloom varieties that are available even if not pronounced properly.

That was great! I love the squash tour because this is my first year to grow squash and Gourds. I grew the Aladdin Gourd and got quite a few before the while plant turn to Powdery Mildew Hell! It's totally amazing how many varieties there are. Wow! Thanks for sharing that awesome Expo experience!

200 varieties of winter squash and my favorite is not in there !! There were squash from Taos, Cliff Dwellers, Hopi, and other tribes, but I have had good luck with Lakota, which is teardrop shaped and about 6 pounds with green and orange skin. Sure am glad we can pause the video.

I've grown golden nugget squash in southern ontario and they are lovely. Live in a townhouse now so I cant grow pumpkins but I bought a butterkin and a grey pumpkin from a local nursery that sells heirloom pumpkins.

Oh how I wish I have had more luck growing pumpkins! I shall try again next year, and hopefully I will have a green house to start them earlier than normal. These all look lovely. Thank you for sharing. I would 'love' me some of those Spaghetti squash too!

Did you grow your Kakai pumpkins in 100% compost plus Azomite etc, or did you mix some top soil with the compost? I love growing pumpkins, but I am not sure if pumpkins do well in 100% compost without some soil of some kind being added.

I should mention that I used the words " unique set of characteristics" before I watched the end of the video, It was just by chance that I used the same verbiage as you.

Imagine if there was a field of those Giant pumpkins that you could walking around in. You would feel like you were in Alice in wonderland type world.

While I really loved seeing you go through all of the pumpkins I couldn't help but wonder if whoever you had holding the camera would have done a better job on those names. It's okay if you have some trouble getting the words out right, I myself cannot spell very well at all. When I have something that needs to be spelled right I own up to my unique set of characteristics and hand the job off, so that it gets done well, I think that you might benefit from the same technique.

Here's a tip. d'Espagne is French for "of Spain" or Spanish and pronounced d'espania. You pronounce "de" as day in Spanish and d or duh in French

Some of those pumpkin names are hard to pronounce, but some of them you were deliberately trying to mispronounce! You walked past some of the pumpkins on the table--the very first set. You said that people must not grow their standard red watermelon, but must grow orange ones. Where are the seeds for those? And they're definitely not in the States, I can assure you!

As long as you show us the spelling of the name, then we can pause the video and write it down. The viewer can then research specific ones that are of interest. :-)

If you know you are butchering the names, why read them out? Just let the labels speak for themselves. Say "Here's a pretty red one" rather than "here's a susshini, a cracknek yelloo, a Sfagnetto squish". It's just incredibly grating. It's just a non-stop display of your inability to pronounce even the most basic words. I gave up when you turned "Espagnole" into "Espangey" . Eitehr do it properly, or dont bother. Just let the video speak for itself while you describe the squash in whatever language you can manage. Better yet, add information, like "this one is great for arid climates" - now THAT would be useful. As it is, its just a video of you proving you can butcher 20 languages in 5 minutes, and not much more. ps. *eedless, the label you couldnt read? Try "Seedless"
