You can see Quincy Andicott's grave in the graveyard! There's a theory that he and the lady's mansions are merged despite being from different time periods, because they were buried next to eacother. Since there's a fancy unmarked one beside it. There's also references to Dante's inferno. I'm 100% convinced that the Unknown is the afterlife.
@sherylannd6813
@sherylannd6813 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've seen that, I believe the Unknown is usually referenced as a purgatory that I've seen. That's why they are able to wake up after they defeated the Beast, but they easily could have died and their souls stayed there eternally if the Beast has gotten their souls. It's so interesting to think about!
@DaDunge
@DaDunge Жыл бұрын
@@sherylannd6813 I don't think purgatory works since no one is trying to move on. Even when helped they'll remain more like some kind of limbo. They got lost long long ago probably because of the beast and now that is where they are for all eternity. It's not good or bad it just is.
@sherylannd6813
@sherylannd6813 Жыл бұрын
@@DaDunge Yeah, but purgatory and limbo are usually seen as the same thing. The space between. I see it more as they are able to go the rough the difference places and times as they are in their own purgatory until it is decided if they are staying/dying or finding their way out/living. Especially when referring to Dante, he wrote about purgatory as well and limbo, a place for the lost or wondering souls they had not made it to either side. This is just how I interpreted it, and based on what I know of Dante though.

@@DaDunge it is sameish at least in the dante's interpretation. You are lost and wondering but put through trials and obstacles that are supposed to teach you things. If you are capable of introspection, you can get out, but if you cant and stay there too long, your soul rots in there and forgets its purpose and will stay there for eternety in a constant state of neutral confusion. I believe all the characters we se at the end in winter are souls that moved on and were able to pass to heaven, as snow symboloises purity and death. Thats why the woodsman couldnt see his daughter before, she had moved on before him, while he was tricked by the beast.

What's amazing is that Adelaide of the Pasture was voiced by John Cleese, and Auntie Whispers was voiced by Tim Curry, both lending their voice to two very memorable characters, I even named a D&D character after Auntie Whispers because it's such a cool name.

A friend told me an interesting fact about the Beast and his lantern: it's supposed to be based off of a folktale. They can't remember where it originated but they said there was a goblin that lived in the mountains whose soul was trapped in a lantern. At the edge of the mountain, there was a village who feared the goblin. Anyone who entered his woods and got lost would become fuel for the lantern. The villagers tried to kill him, but because his soul was in the lantern, he could not be killed. (Now this part of the story I don't remember clearly, so bear with me) There was a woodsmen who lived just on the border of the forest and the village with his daughter. On a cold night, the woodsmen went to go find his daughter in the woods only to find her very sick and on the verge of death. The goblin appeared and struck a deal with him: the goblin would transfer his daughter's soul into the lantern and it would be the woodsmen's job to keep it lit. As long as he kept her flame alive, so would his daughter. The goblin would provide him with fuel as long as the woodsmen gave him protection. The woodsmen agreed to the deal. He would do anything to keep his daughter safe and alive. The goblin performed a ritual and made the woodsmen the new lantern barer. But what the woodsmen didn't know was that it was all a lie. His daughter soul was never transferred into the lantern. The goblins soul was still inside. His daughter was hidden inside his cave in the mountains. For years, the woodsmen let the goblin do what he did to fuel the lantern, unaware of who was really inside. Unfortunately, my friend couldn't remember how the story ended or even if this was how it ended.

Idea: anything that eats the turtles becomes more beast-like. They get bigger and get those round multicolored eyes- the dog in the first episode, the beast in the last episode, and well I guess Auntie Whispers hasn’t eaten the shells but she’s close to transforming? Maybe the turtles got covered in edelwood sap to turn them black.

And as for what the Unknown is, like i said many people theorize that it's some form of purgatory and that all the people in the Uknown are just lost souls that couldn't find their way into the afterlife and that all of the animals in the Unknown are a representation of something possibly reincarnation, in fact i once heard somewhere that the Uknown is based on Dante's Inferno.

the way how i saw the ending is that the boys did jump away from the train but died in the water, because at the end the frog still has the bell wich means they never left the unknown or moved on to the after life, also during the show it gets colder showing how the boys bodies are freezing in the lake.

I think a lot of that is right, but the bell being in the frog imo shows that what they went through in the unknown was real in some way. it wasn't just a shared hallucination or something, they came back from the brink of death and brought memories and a bell with them. I like to think of the unknown as a place existing on the edge of existence, where the long forgotten live clinging onto life, like the last shadows of these people. I find it so fascinating

my asmption as to why auntie didn't get rid of the spirit. is cause she might not fully know about how the bell worked. she might have feared that removing the spirit might also remove lorna's spirit. due to the fact the bell works on lorna, that lorna and the spirit might be tied. auntie is old. she might not fully be able to move on from the past ways and is just doing the wrong thing with good intentions. She's a lonely old woman who was afraid of being left behind. doing what she thought was right to keep her family safe. also, her niece has been with her for a while. so it's possible while this is strained, her niece knows her aunt meant well. Her aunt is family and did try to take care of her the best ways she could.

@@JesterBrosCartoonTheater The fact that also in the original idea, they were riding the train, and the Beast was the conductor makes me think there is something going on. Black trains usually represent death, and the beast shows the loss/death of hope. In ep 9, Wirt’s hope was lost about getting the tape and all that JUST before the train came that caused their (near) death. The graveyard was right next to the train tracks, so possibly it symbolises all those who lost hope in the Unknown? Another thing is that in the concepts, when they came back from the Unknown, which was also called the In-between at the time, they jumped into the future by a lot, maybe meaning that their spirits came back? That the world moved on without them? I don’t know but I just think it’s interesting.

i think the souls who get to see the winter in the unknown are souls that reached peace. It's sort of like heaven, in the cold purity of death and snow. So by killing the beast, the woodsman was reunited with his daughter's soul, and beatrice and her family found peace after she learned her lesson and saved her family (they probably died during the potato famine), and lorna and aunty whispers now that the evil spirit left them alone etc etc...
