I started my channel at the age of 68 with my daughter and two years later we are going strong, stronger than ever in every possible way! We feel we have made a difference in many peoples lives, and we are making a full-time income for both of us. Highly recommend this path to anyone whatever their age. You don’t need to be particularly clever or skilled to run a KZfaq channel. You just need to follow the instructions. We never had a massive video blowup like Jen did - congratulations on that Jen - we got there through the hard slog route of daily videos for six months before we got seen eventually! Now we are headed for 200,000 subscribers and that all seems like a distant memory. I heartily endorse the idea that anyone can have a successful channel. Go for it!

Why I followed you when you had 68 subscribers was mostly about your transparency and self-humor authenticity . Procrastination aside, it boils down to personality and relevant content to the target audience. Being 68 years old , we are a demographic of silver and fortunately or unfortunately depending on perspective , solo living, traveling and navigating the world as self-dependent. Your channel provides validation to our demographic, and comfort to our aging group. It’s scary and intimidating to be alone for maybe the first time and as older women become more invisible or shut-ins, this comfort and support is much needed. I did not procrastinate responding to this video. Thanks Jen!

WOW! For me this is AWESOME timing. I had never dreamed KZfaq was for us too. I'm 70+ and found myself permanently isolated following COVID lockdowns. If you live deep in farm country this happened easily. I don't think I'm the only one that got locked in and so that will be my niche ... with the positive intention of helping all of us free ourselves from extreme isolation. Again, thank you Jen for this vid and all your others as well❤

I started my KZfaq channel two months ago. I'm in my 40's, a teacher, and a parent. I still put out 2 videos a week. I get low views and only have 21 subscribers....but I'm pretty niche and have a lot to learn. I make videos of my Fortnite playing by making clips from my livestreams. But I figure I have all summer vacation to figure out how to make better thumb nails, make better videos, etc. I'm usually a perfectionist, but I'm actually focusing on just putting out two videos a week, no matter if I get 0 views. I'm feeling proud just for being consistent!

Thanks for your video Jen. I started my youtube channel November 30 of last year. I am the procrastinator queen. I am camera shy. I have a huge fear of being laughed at. I am too "old" as the "young" people say. I'm 57 years old. I didn't know anything about editing. I have used about 4 different editing apps (with much frustration) and finally found one that works for me. I'm still learning it. I didn't know a THING about uploading a video to KZfaq. I'm still learning it as well. I am busy with 5 grown kids and 2 grand kids and many pets and just life. My house and yard, where I sometimes record my videos, is not perfect. My clothes/look is not perfect. I could go on with the reasons why I can't do KZfaq. I am still a procrastinator and I'm still learning. I watch videos to learn how to make videos and grow my channel. This is how I found your channel Jen, which was recommended to me by KZfaq with your video on how you grew your channel and got monetized. I have 106 subscribers now with 62 videos! I am proud of myself for putting myself out there. Going outside my comfort zone and learning new things and making new friends.

I look forward to watching your channel grow and being a part of your community. 💯🤩. Jen’s channel inspired me to do my own monetization challenge which has grown my channel from 57 subs to over 300 in less than a month. There’s power in community and building friendships here. So many interesting people to be inspired by! Cheers to us!🥂

I use my phone to video and the only equipment I purchased was a tripod. Like you mentioned, I have watched many KZfaq videos to help me learn, and whilst I am growing VERY slowly I am improving, making many numerous connections within my niche and being consistent. I am encouraged by your videos and believe we all have this opportunity if we will just take the first step! Grateful I found you! 🙏🏻❤️ P.S. The fear factor has been real-but the fact is, I’m doing it. If anyone has ugly things to say, let *them* start a channel and see how well they do it. My biggest obstacle was getting over my insecurities. What motivated me is the desire to share my knowledge as a 53 year old gardener, cook and artist. I think we are harder on ourselves than necessary so I plug through the learning curve at a later age. I shall pesrevere and get 1% better each video ❤ Much love you all of us navigating this new world of KZfaq.

Omg every single word that you spoke….. I’ve said 🤯 😢 however, i watch someone’s video and they said, “who cares“ no one is going to see your first videos, so use that time to get started, to “learn as you go”, so i did, and the first few were very basic, but i did it! I’m still battling self sabotage, at the same time as health issues, BUT, i was a Senior administrator, I WAS capable and I was successful. Hearing you talk about your work is absolutely what I can relate to, I loved spreadsheets and project management. I’m still battling with losing all that and becoming sedentary for the past the years. You have sparked that interest in me and that’s been missing for many years. I’m going to watch your videos and try and motivate myself again. One day at a time. Thank you for popping up on my feed 🙏😌😌😌😌 🇬🇧

Hi Jen I am a 50 something, expert procrastinator! but found your growing a small youtube channel series just before you became monetarised. At the time i was working on getting my first " in front of camera" video done and as i had been studying how to do all this from the same youtubers as yourself, everything you were doing resonated with my own plans( even if an entirely different niche). I am a wet felter, diagnosed with Parkinsons 7 years ago, aged 46. I want to create videos that help other people with disabilities continue or start felting, whilst staying relevant in my niche when i can no longer felt. Also contribute to the family finances and hopefully give us financial security. ie help to pay the mortgage. I am incredibly busy this month with first accounts needing submitting and a craft stall on the 1st day of next month. This is on top of all life's other commitments But i started anyway! I guess the youtubing became my procrastination to avoid the accounts! But anyway, I wanted to thank you! I am sure that my journey to monetization will be longer but i am grateful for the real life evidence that it is doable and presented in such a genuine way! Thank you! Karen, owner of Fflwff

As a new creator with just a handful of subscribers, I have noticed my videos get more views at the beginning of the week vs later in the week. Maybe that’s not a problem once you have a ton of subscribers but I have been trying to drop my videos on a consistent day. So I’m happy to hear you stick to a schedule Wednesday and Sunday etc.

This inspired me. I started filming videos documenting a transformation journey I’m on over a year ago and I only recently started editing them. Even still I’m procrastinating in uploading them because I’m worried they aren’t “perfect”. I had no idea what I was doing when I started recording so they are terrible 😂. But I just keep hearing that I just need to post. I’m certain it’s fear that is holding me back. Thanks for the inspiration.

New Subscriber! I'm so happy that you decided to share your journey here on KZfaq because obviously your message is helping so many of us. Especially in our age group! I'm almost 58 and have been making KZfaq videos for 3 years. It has been challenging to say the least but I decided this year to truly commit myself to growing my channel. I changed a few things I was doing and although I'm not quite sure it has helped yet, I will keep going. Currently I am at 527 and my goal is to get to a 1000 by the end of the year. Although I am in this age group, I am an older mom of twin boys. One of my boys has autism and having my channel gives me a place to share our story. Again this morning I was starting to feel like giving it a rest. I found your channel, started to binge your videos and decided to change my attitude and keep going. I'm happy to support you and any other small channel that I can. You have helped me a great deal today and for that my friend, I thank you.

yes Jen so true: awareness is everything. Very well said. I think there is no one out there who has never procrastinated. looking at why is so helpful. For me I see that sometimes it is just an excuse to not move forward in my life. I can be lazy or want change however not prepared to actually take action. I heard somewhere that when there is something I really want just start by giving it 10 minutes. I have done this and of course after 10 minutes I just choose to go for longer. you mentioned building on something that seems insurmountable with little bites at a time. This tool so works for me. Thanks again for all of this knowledge and observations they so help to really put it into perspective. I think telling myself the truth about myself and just getting that is the key. Knowing why helps me to work around that. thanks again for all the info links.
