I haven’t been through Debbie’s situation - but 20 years ago when depressed with 3 children under 5 I was told by pastors they didn’t want anything more to do with me because I wasn’t following all their advice. The lack of pastoral care and the willingness to drop relationship after 5 years of leadership together was totally shocking. There were direct examples of other people being told incorrect stories, of being actively excluded and of concerning levels of control. God is good. I eventually learnt to find God’s voice in the midst of it all. Really helpful to hear a healthy perspective on church leaders being hurtful.
