The thing is when I am not involved with someone, I am really confident about myself and I'm very happy and content with myself. But when I am in a relationship, I become a little clingy unlike the person I really am. It is rather confusing and exhausting.

I'm glad that you worked up the courage to find satisfaction in self realization but be careful not to close your heart completely from others. Some people may actually be trying to connect with you and bring good things. Even if your instincts are trying to shield you from being hurt by others again after one or several traumatic experiences, it's still not a foregone conclusion that people are inherently unscrupulous or opportunistic, you could be turning away a good thing without even realizing it.

I feel the same, I just read Eckhart Tolle and he says what you think others are not giving to you you actually are not giving to them. If you want people to listen, listen. If you want people to be friendly, loving etc. be that to them! I sometimes try this and it really works, it is just to remind yourself over and over to really act like that!

Getting attached to non attachment is also attachment. This has nothing to do with relationships per se. It is about separation. The person will always find something to be insecure about. Liberation is being free of the personal wants. If you can appreciate life, it makes no difference where you live or with whom. if you are romantically involved or not. This will only be the surface of your daily happenings, one of the many wonders of being. That is not to say it is not a nice experience. Life is easier when supported. It is wonderful to share the same non-personalness together. But it doesn't need the relationship as a vehicle. You can share life with life itself. And a good friendship is just as worthy. Being "only" friends doesn't exist. It is not less than any other form of relationship. Important is the underlying current: appreciating everything as a the miracle you are yourself. This compares to nothing.

'Desire of romantic relationship' means that there is no love but neediness. * I was so much in despair because I never felt this need to be in a romantic relationship and I thought I ought to be like the others. Especially I didn't want to disappoint oneones expectations of me. But now I am glad to be independent. I only needed to accept my peculiarity. And I had to realize that I am not responsible for other people and their feelings. They want romance and I want sincerity. Both don't go together very well because romantic love is selfish. True love is not romantic but objectless.

The trick is to find someone who is as attached to you as you are to the other. The idea that one person in a relationship is less interested than the other is the death knell. We get infatuated with qualities that are unique in the other person that are often opposite as in artist vs. engineer, tall vs. short, brown vs. blue eyes, etc. Opposites attract. However, too much game playing goes on because games have become such a part of culture, and I for one hate games. I play for endurance and keeps. I choose to love, the other doesn't, and that is why I get hurt.

Yes after being pushed away, pulled in, over and over and over again, each time you learn to let go of attachment a little more each time, until eventually you release attachment completely. It takes much time, and much strength to let go. My advice is to also not allow the person to push and pull that way. No matter how much you think you love someone that behavior is toxic to your self esteem and self worth. My problem is the person excepts me to play their push and pull but doesn’t want me to fully go. When I do finally “let go” of this person, I will have learned to love myself enough to have the strength to walk away and never look back. That will be my freedom

I was deeply insecure most of my life, and I readily attached to women I was in relationship with, believing that is what I needed to feel good. 3 marriages later, nothing had changed much. Then I met a woman who respected and accepted me, although she never accepted my clinginess, or my "falling in love" with her. It took 4 years of disappointment on my part to finally realize that she was perhaps the most important teacher of my life. We continue to be friends and after resolving most of my attachment disorder by way of her steady love and unwavering kindness and support, we have found some ease, and enjoy each other's company without any expectations that we will ever be in a romantic relationship with each other. It was a hard climb for me, but well worth it, and I am so thankful for her presence in my life. Knowing her has given me a glimpse of what true love really is. Thank you.

I get it, all of it. And beautifully expressed as well in the video. But there must be a way of being in a loving and healthy relationship, one that is not of co-pendency, right? . We, humans, are wired for connection. Is everyone saying that being on your own is the way to go? Of course loving yourself is absolutely essential to reach balance and self-confidence and not losing yourself in the relationship is paramount. However, is this only possible in the context of being single? Being on your own is great but what about the complicity of a partner, the companionship, the sharing experiences and a life together.. Is it a bad thing to miss that? Is it not worth it pursuing those things? Or is the conclusion that having a partner will destroy that perfect bubble of being single rather than enhance it and expand it for both parts? I would like to hear what everyone thinks. Thanks. Maria.

I listened to this not too long ago. Finally i feel content to not be in a relationship. I am currently in a relationship with me, learning about myself. Im learning to love me for the first time while i slowly peel away my attachment issues. Im not ready yet. The journey is just as beautiful as the destination 💗

I’ve done the push and pull in a relationship. I’m not proud of the walls is put up when someone got so close, even though I wanted to be close, I had fears due to past traumas. Really good video, it was in my recommended and I’m glad I watched it. Definitely something I’ve been thinking about and going through.

Thank you for the clarity you give. I allowed myself to be drawn into a manipulative relationship due to sexual desires when I should have remained within myself. I have no attachment to this any longer, but unfortunately circumstance does not allow me to be alone which is necessary for my growth within. Your words are by far the most authentic I have been guided to. I am grateful for our connection. Namaste

What you said about not being the usual spiritual teacher really hit on my current experience. It’s the same pull away and come back when I draw away. I’ve gotten better slowly being ok on my own. I even met a lot of friend while not seeing her for 3 months. I’m still in the process but I’m letting go slowly. I’m able to see the insecurity.

wow!!! I'm going through this exact same experience with someone. This has been a very dark week for me and I feel a lot of anger for the way he keeps toying with my feelings for him. I'm not normally an angry person

Anger is hurt ....if someone is toying with your emotions than they may be manipulative. Honor your truth, honor your emotions it is the language of the soul and our emotions never lie.

Don't give your power away to this person emotionally manipulating you. They are unconscious! They don't know themselves. I have been through the same thing a few years ago. Let go and allow whatever happens to happen. You will survive and be a stronger person.

It's frustrating isn't it... It leads to not wanting to disclose your feelings for people for fear of them being manipulated. Unfortunately I made the mistake of sharing my issues with "friends" only to have those "friends" tap at those same vulnerabilities previously disclosed to them in confidence. Being involved in a toxic relationship causes you to re-evaluate your entire life.

@@rachelhope3161 I like the way you put that. I've been lied to for months, it was so confusing suppressing my feelings for another person's reality- which then let me cling on to them a while longer. Unfortunately my feelings and suspicions were all right. Wish I had the courage to listen to them the first time.
