Flooding your dopamine receptors like no other has serious consequences such as affecting your intelligence - working memory etc. which could basically flip a person’s direction in life. It’s only recently that because these celebrities are talking about it general public slowly become aware of it. Couple of years ago 90% of your Google research would say porn and masturbation is good for you and helps you calm down. Fk that sh*t. So for example a porn addict will be late to school/work to watch porn in the morning because otherwise he can't function, or he won't hang out with his friends because of the same reason. Obviously there's different levels of it but that's the broad definition of it

Getting a dopamine hit whenever you feel like it takes away from everything else in life. Good food, travels, sex with your significant other, achieving success and more. There is less pleasure in doing all those things because you can just masturbate and hit the big dopamine button whenever you want with less effort. Dopamine is a reward chemical in our brain that is supposed to release when we achieve something or do something to reward us for doing things like eatting which promotes survival and having sex which promotes survival of the human race. Porn is extremely dangerous because it's so accessible and addicting, there are endless amounts of scenarios and fetishes and fantasies that can be fulfilled and Everytime you fulfill one you move on further and further to more extremes. This is how people eventually become rapist and pedophiles as they've exhausted all other fantasies.

I'm going through some similar battles currently and I great appreciate/respect the honesty because for me it's really embarrassing to confide this kind of thing in someone you care about. Every time i think about opening up about it i think about the ludicrous amount of time and money i've wasted on this addiction and it makes me not want to talk about it out of pure embarrassment. Ive been "doing it" relatively often but without the use of pornographic media, and I realize that Im not really feeling much worse after. Porn is the issue, but of course the act of jerking off is problematic as well, when done excessively. Unfortunately I have poorer self control once I start, but the fortunate part is that doing it with lotion rather than your bare hands actually makes having the real deal feel more natural lol. Seriously, I know it was sort of a meme, but you SHOULD do it that way. I think it tricks the brain into thinking its real, so you dont have so much regret after the fact.
