I agree. mixflip does a great job covering all types of equipment and gear. A real overlander would not put down someone who is not a "real overlander". 😉 BTW, I prefer to actually see the DIY builds and the camping area setups. That's where the real creativity is.

Good thing I carry around a 3/8" thick 16" square piece of steel (possibly stainless but unknown none the less) that was liberated from the last shop I worked at before they shut down lol. @mixFlip I've been trying very hard to find your few year old shotshow expo video with the "analog " water filter...that technically doesn't have a filter...but grates. And can be clean with the water it filtered... I can't find it. I've tried for hours. And online browsers. I can't find it..I REMEMBER YOU COVERED IT- RECORDED IT !!!

You are old school we don’t use Kailua Town much anymore. I said that to someone and the looked at me with the spinning color wheel look. I always stayed in town from Koko Head to the Airport since I grew up in Manoa.

What do they call Kailua now? It’s one of the last true beach towns in my opinion. No hotels, no high rise condos, just houses all walking distance to the beach. Hardly any Hawaiians there tho.

Seems I ggv your going to do these videos, you've got to get some basics down. It's very frustrating getting some of the very most basics wrong. It should be simple, just ask the people who own, sell, and engineer them, vs. a bunch of assumptions, because you know what's that leads to...

Some booths I just fly by on my own and see what I can deduce from my own experience and knowledge or from what placards with info I can read if there is no owner around. Other booths I grab the owners, mic them up and let them tell me why their product is good. Thats my formula with these compilation videos. I will post the full interview videos later when I get time off from work. This is after all just my hobby.

@@mixflip I was referring to the things that either should be known, or just don't speculate and assume, ie. Tacoma being a 2x turbo when it's a single turbo, and sequoia's are all I-force max (hybrid). I don't want to go on about dogs and what not. Some people have the eyes/knowledge for these things, others just don't.

@@kellstat Yeah I never claim to know it all. I used to edit heavily but now I just leave the mistakes and let folks comment the corrections below the video. Turns out the more I make mistakes the more people type in the comments...and the better the Google adsense checks are lol.

@@kellstat strategically leaving in mistakes is actually better for engagement. It promotes clickbacks. The algorithm doesn’t differentiate positive or negative engagement. It just knows people are watching and people are leaving comments. About 10 years ago I had a video with a bunch of ums and ahs and everyone was leaving a comment about it. The video got lots of views. I took a few hours and edited out the ums and ahs (which isn’t fun to do) and the engagement basically stopped. My very first ebike review was obvious that I didn’t know anything about e-bikes. I was just operating on enthusiasm lol. The ebike experts ripped me to shreds. That video has over 1 million views and made me over $5,000 dollars. I bought the bike for $399 at Walmart haha. So lesson learned for me is just be myself. Be flawed. Don’t edit in perfection. Is it the right course of action for success? I have no idea. I’ve also learned that you can’t please everyone. I’m just a dork with a camera.

And where in my KZfaq name does it claim that I am an overlander? And where in the history of my channel did I tell anyone that I’m an overlander? I’m a camper. I’ve camped in ground tents, in hammocks, rooftop tents, teardrop trailers, vans, travel trailers, truck campers and class C RVs in Yellowstone, Yosemite, Zion, Grand Canyon, Crater Lake, Sequoia Redwoods, Grand Tetons, Arches National Park and Great Basin National park and even slept in a Suzuki samurai on the beaches of Hawaii in the 90s and many more places. Never once do I say im an overlander. Shit, I’ve been camping in a truck since I was a kid in the 70s with my dad. Is that overlanding? Who cares???

You implied it when you argued to qualify your Toyota Sienna as an overlander, then you proceeded to qualify others vehicles you considered overlanders (as if you're an experienced overlander) even though you dont consider yourself to be. You may not have said the words but you're arguing for something you dont consider yourself to be part of which is fine but you cant complain that its confusing to your audience. Also dont let the comments get to you. 90% of these guys in the comments have zero experience doing anything outdoors and they're just parroting what they heard other youtubers say.

I never once claimed to be anything other than some middle aged Asian guy with a camera who likes to go camping and learn about outdoorsy stuff. Anything beyond that is on you guys.

Your example is no different than me wearing an officers uniform and telling someone "just because im dressed like a cop doesnt mean im a cop". All I'm saying is that it's confusing for the audience. If you cant grasp that simple concept, idk what to say but im just trying to clarify. I already admitted that you never made any claims so it's pointless for you to clarify to me. I get it. I just want to clarify to you to clear any confusion you might have since you're in the comments asking the same question multiple times.

I’m just a fan of the show and somehow I’m getting haters? lol I went to an RV show last month and commented my opinion and that crowd didn’t bash me for not being a real RVer lol. I just find it funny. I love the internet. I could make videos about puppies and I’m sure I’d get a hater there too. (Not you but just people in general) Getting called a fake overlander isn’t bad I guess. When I first started making videos people used to call me a Gook dog eater…. It comes with the territory. I’m used to it.
