Depends on the type of trails you do. I used to run a ‘ski box’ as I called it and ended up breaking it on a tight, tippy trail by hitting it into a tree

Great video. I carry a Milwaukee battery impact wrench and it is a beast. I guarantee you I am getting any lug nuts off when I need to, plus I carry a set of tourque sticks so I can set the right tourque for the lugs. I noticed in your garage you have one of those magnetic parts holder bowls, that is great to have in the field too so all the parts you take off are kept together. I was with a guy once changing an axle in a boulder field and he kept dropping parts that disappeared between the boulders never to be seen again.

Like you I have to keep everything organized. I think that this comes from our medical backgrounds where our medical bags, cabinets (ER especially) and ambulance interiors are well organized. I have the OneTigris molle panel to organize my pouches on the passenger seat back which is essentially my headboard when I sleep in the Jeep SUV. On the back of the driver's seat is a large Mossy Oak backpack, about 55 liters, filled with extra warm layers: fleece jackets, rain gear, gloves, extra socks, wool watch caps, balaclava, neck gaiters, merino wool under layers and an XL reflective vest and reflective wrist bands. My fire extinguisher is stored in a long molle pouch on the door side of the backpack. All of the necessary gear I need are stored in two Doublez trunk organizers with four separate compartments: (1) cooler, water bottles (one is insulated) (2) stove and other kitchen paraphernalia (3) hammock, tarp, underquilt, top quilt, other accessories, a OneTigris Bungalow 2.0 tent and (4) extra wool blanket, military poncho, woobie, alpaca wool bag liner and a Helikon Tex Swagman Roll. Cargo nets came with the each Doublez organizer to prevent items from flying out. Each organizer has side pockets to place gear such as knives, sling shot, ammo, multitool, fire kits, etc. If I take my refrigerator and Jackery, they will go on the pax seat and floor. I converted an old CPAP bag into a trauma kit. I have a cargo basket on the roof with a waterproof, supposedly, cargo bag and that's where I'll pack a Mr. Buddy Heater, a tent cot, extraction kit and a 6X10 Jeep awning with tent poles. The shovel and and recovery boards are mounted on the sides of the cargo basket. Survival tools, kits, ax, Silky saws and a collapsible snow shovel are in the spare tire well. A headlamp is wrapped around each head restraint of the front seats. I carry a yoga mat for under carriage maintenance and ensure the Hokena (magnetic) emergency flashers are mounted on all four corners of the Jeep when I perform any maintenance..

I am sure you know that Blue Ridge Overland is based in Bedford, VA as you have done business with them. In case you don't know, Bedford is home to the National D-Day Memorial. This small south western VA town, about 4 hours from DC , was chosen for this national memorial (which honors all allied forces) because the 23 men they lost in the Normandy campaign represented the largest per capita loss of life of any town in the U.S.

I really enjoy these types of videos. I like the Molly set up on the seat back, I've been meaning to do something like that but haven't gotten around to it yet. I have most of my smaller stuff tucked into the door pockets in my 4Runner, those are pretty handy for these things. Also excited to see you giving the element fire extinguisher is shot, I've been meaning to pick up a fire extinguisher for my rig, and I recently saw this one and thought it looked like a great option. I'd be interested in a more in-depth review of it if you get a chance.

Live full time in my 4-runner. Need a better extinguisher answer than the standard which are fine and cheap but large and too easily activated accidentally. Got an Element. Seems to be the answer to my issue. Very small, can’t be accidentally activated but not cheap. They claim to last longer and more efficiently put out fire. No test results, sorry but hope to never need it.

I have been looking for a really low profile rack because I am getting close to my garage door height on my 2020 JLU. When you held up the measuring tape to your rhino rack it looked like about 5.5" above the hard top. Is that about right? I think I have about 6.5" of clearance left so that may work for me. I also like that rack because it looks like it would still allow me to take the hard top off on nice San Diego summer days.
