We know it's bold to make the statement "best campsite in Utah" ..... but seriously, this was not only the best campsite we've ever seen in Utah, but anywhere we've ever camped in the American west. But, we're curious .... what's the best campsite YOU have ever found??

Love that view. Twenty plus years ago, when that was a huge bay below you, it was one of my favorite spots to camp when I kept my boat out there. Will eventually make it to where you were camping but not until I get something with a little more ground clearance in a year or two. Thanks for posting.

New to the channel and just watched Traversing Utah and this one. Both were awesome videos! I really love your format, just enough of the "staples"... narration, talking on camera, background music and natural sounds... I really think you guys really nailed it. I'm looking forward to going back to your older vids and seeing the new content as it comes!!!

@@WheretoNextOverland well here’s a couple good excuses in case you need to go right now: What if simulation theory is real? Better get to Utah before I find out; I forgot to wave at that guy on the trail, better head back down so he doesn’t think I’m shunning him; solar eclipse is October 14 this year, I should leave now to get a good spot.

Thanks! I think we mentioned it in the video, but that was Alstrom Point. Normally we refrain from sharing specific camp spots but in this case, this one is far from secret. But .... it's INCREDIBLE. Our favorite campsite of all time without a doubt. If you want to go out there and have it all to yourself, a weekday is probably your best best. But there are a lot of good spots out there to choose from!

Southern Utah rocks! We were out that way about six weeks ago, ran into a few feet of snow. How many miles did you have between gas stations?
@WheretoNextOverland
@WheretoNextOverland Жыл бұрын
Agreed, Southern Utah is incredible! We were there about 5-6 weeks ago as well. Didn't run into much snow, but we avoided doing much high elevation stuff for that reason. The longest planned distance between fuel stops was about 100 miles. That's about as far as I like to go without carrying additional fuel. Allows us the ability to backtrack to the last fuel stop if absolutely needed

Curious...you mentioned the proper names of parks in the area like Zion and Grand Canyon, but then you ended the list with "Lake Powell." What can Glen Canyon National Recreation Area do to better brand themselves so people start properly referring to it? The lake is only 20% of the park, and my least favorite part TBH. Suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
@WheretoNextOverland
@WheretoNextOverland 7 ай бұрын
That's a good observation and an even better question. Not so sure I have a good answer, but I definitely think that the National Parks have a pretty big advantage there, in terms of recognition. EVERYONE knows the National Parks, but I feel like few people (myself included) really have a good grasp on where the National Recreation Areas are, and what points of interest are in them. Of course, if we are going to be exploring an area, we'll do some research and I'm sure be able to find some points of interest .... but as a general observation, I don't know that the masses really understand what a National Recreation Area is or isn't. From a marketing standpoint, I might suggest that the National Recreation Areas could push to position themselves as being similar to the National Parks in important ways (dramatic landscapes, pristine nature, etc) BUT without the massive crowds that have taken over a lot of the National Parks. For people like us, who enjoy being out in the backcountry, but prefer NOT to be surrounded by loads of tourists ... National Recreation Areas can be a great option.
