Overlanding Zimbabwe, we leave Mvuu Lodge (Lower Zambezi), and explore the western side of Zimbabwe. A stop over in Kariba, a long hard trip to Matusadona National Park, and we revist Hwange National Park and stay at a new campsite, in the Tshakabika concession.
New roads, in new wild places. It's an adventure filled with the overlanding spirit with unforgetable wild encounters, one we will never forget.

Living in europe, I (58) was overlanding solo in Botswana this year (where I encountered Edward) and will be going to Zimbabwe next year. Overlanding to Chizarira, Matusadona, Manapools (chitake, nyamepi), Gonarezhou, Hwange. You have to know that guys like you and Edward and your other youtube-overlander-friends are a huge inspiration to make trips like this, the only regret could be that I didnt start earlier in life. Thanks for the inspiration, the information and for another entertaining video.

I live in the Matobo Hills just south of Bulawayo and am very much stoked for you. When going to Gonarezhou, strongly recommend passing through gems in the Eastern Highlands. Plenty of scenic routes and waterfalls to chase. Chirinda Forest (about 30km from Chipinge) is a hidden gem with great trails through the ancient woodlands. Wishing you all the best!

Thank you for the in depth information that you dish out on these trips. Have you managed to get the Ranger on the Road again. Would it be possible to do a video on the car issues and how you dealt with them. And the cost of breakdowns, and unexpected and other unbudgeted costs you encountered. This helps new travellers a lot of 👌👌👌👏👏❤️❤️❤️🎉🎉

When you mentioned the date I thought just how much work you put into these productions Ryan - our fam over here in Qld Australia really value you & the other guys representation of the absolute best of African touring. Looking forward to visiting Hwange in July 2024. (after a couple weeks in June i Kafue, South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi) This entire series has been fantastic. I spent 2 years in Livingstone town back in the '70s and looking forward to returning 50 years later. Our visit to Kafue was thwarted by 2 Volkswagen breakdowns - Zambia Youth Day 1974 was spent touring Chobe in my 1949 Beetle and Christmas/New Years 1973/74 was a trip in fully loaded (4 adults and about 400Kg of "stuff") '67 Peugeot 204 from Livingstone to Mbereshi Luapula (through Zaire) in the rainy season!!! With the political situation of the early '70s Zim was out of the question, Kariba was sketchy and Lower Zambesi was pretty much off limits. After watching your trip "I dream of Africa".

Ya know one thing we can't experience watching on KZfaq is the smells, I don't mean bad smells but smells as you drive through towns and the forests of burning wood, oceans, lakes, trees, flowers it must be an overload of the senses. Am I wrong 😮 Thanks for sharing Andrew

Nope, Andrew you are spot on. The smells are a sensory trigger on every trip. It’s what confirms the wild for me. Glad you enjoyed

Fond memories boating on Lake Cariba circa 1975. Dad snagging tiger fish right at the dam head. Swimming at an island on the way from Cariba Bay resort to the gorge that turned out was infested with crocs. Is the resort still there? Was a going concern as I recall at the age of 9.

Ryan, do you do photo shoots on these trips as well boet? Man, some of your imagery is just breathtaking mate. You capture the essence of Africa. I wouldn't mind a couple of prints for some frames. Let us know. Keep up the fantastic videos! Btw, you capture light very well, I must say.
