Overnight Bus: Sleeping Next to Strangers in Cambodia? 🇰🇭

After a wonderful few days in Siem Reap, Cambodia seeing the sunrise over Angkor Wat, eating some delicious local Khmer food, with the most wonderful warm welcome from the locals… it’s time to head further down south to Kampot! We’ve booked a few nights at a laid-back treehouse hotel on a BEACH (yes, you heard that right!). Before we get there, though, we need to take the overnight sleeper bus from Siem reap to the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, and then continue onwards to Kampot… it’s a long night's journey, where poor Dylan hardly gets any sleep!

My family and I did an overnight bus in Cambodia around 5 years ago, from Siem Reap to the coast. There was a mix up when booking and we ended up with only 3 seats for 4 of us, my wife got a bed with our 2 boys at the back of the bus and I ended up with a stranger in the bed at the front. We all survived to tell the tale and loved our time in Cambodia.

I stayed at Sabay Beach just before COVID. We had the room right on the water. Loved our stay! The food, the staff, that sunsets! And waking up to the bells and chants nearby. Such a memorable place to stay!

I was hoping for a video today. So Happy Delicious seafood and noodles. YUK 12 HR Bus ride. Bags are heavier every time you go somewhere else in my opinion. Congrats you made it to your treehouse. Excellent all around PS Dylon is eating noodles for the 1ST time

Best bus company is Larryta express they have brand new buses and are super clean and good value, bring something warm to wear as these buses are always cold. You can also book your seats online/facebook if you want to be next to each other...Live in PP but travel to Siem Reap a lot.

Virak Buntham night buses can be hit or miss (at least from my experience in terms of drivers and passengers) lol. Glad you guy made the trip safe and sound. Enjoy Kampot! Check out Kdart La Tente if you guys have time.

basic on my experience, foreign always join Meyhong Bus Night sleep. For Siem Reap to Phnom Penh. It's really nice and private with comfortable. When arrive in Phnom Penh, they will choose Kompot express directly to kompot. Welcome to Cambodia. Enjoy it
