Love the video as Always, Frosty I wondered if it would be possible, and/or smart idea to make a Dakota fire hole inside a shelter like this if it were a bit bigger??.....oh and my Granddaughter is now watching All your videos with me, I had to go back and start from the First one so She could get caught up...She Loves Tref ...and is learning much from you, so until next time...we say ....stay Frosty!!!!

Another great adventure! I got up to go to the restroom at aroung 2AM and couldn't go back to sleep. I thought, "While I'm up, I wish I could get me some Frosty and Tref." Loved the video as well, Frosty💞I too found it at 2:00 am ish but fell back asleep. It was right here waiting for me this morning. I loved the story about your grandma… that knife is a keeper… though now I’m well into 70’s, I still have fond memories of my grandma who has long passed. I teared up when you mentioned peeling apples as that is one of my favorite memories… sitting at her feet and watching her peel apples. Always a treat to watch you and Tref on your adventures. Thanks for the memories. Stay healthy and come back to us soon!❄️⛄️☃️❄️

Hello Frosty, another nice tour from you. Simple but good storage space construction. Maybe you could have attached the tarp a little better (on the wooden poles) so that the roof doesn't lift off so much in the wind. Your grandmother's Opinel is also nice, I have one myself. Inexpensive but good and easy to sharpen. The idea of enlarging the recessed grip will have made it easier for your grandmother to use it (every now and then I struggle to unfold the blade). A little tip from me: Cook the knife briefly in oil (like french fries). The handle then turns dark brown, but this makes it water-repellent (sand off the paint first with sandpaper). Greetings from Germany, Selfmade.👍
@frostys_bushcraft
@frostys_bushcraft Жыл бұрын
Thank you my friend. The tarp was flopping in the wind because it was foldes, later I closed it and was fine during the night. That's an interesting idea, I'll try it our with another Opinel.

@@frostys_bushcraft If you want to see what the knife looks like afterwards, take a look here. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qdqeeKpmvbbSqYk.html He says in the video that it took him 30-45 minutes, if you sand down the varnish beforehand it takes 5-10 minutes and the oil can penetrate the wood much better.

I would have thrown a bunch of spruce-branches on the shelter floor before putting on the tarp, they insulate the ground-cold quite well. But I figure your bedding is enough. Very Cool dog-gear! And a cool shelter. Cool Opinel-story. If you have that much snow in Croatia, you might want to learn how to ski and buy skis, you'll fly like the wind on snow. Haha. Also, something like Shappell Jet Sled XL, so you can pull your gear in stead of carrying it. Any kids sled will do, hah.

Sweet story :) Wise lady, she knew: When you carry a knife, ask yourself, what do I want to knife. I have carried a few knives but really I do the same reasons as your grandmom, to peel apples or oranges. It's able to do more, which makes it fine in doing what it does. If I lived where people didn't outnumber trees I may carry a bigger knife but here in the sprawling land of multi story kidney and liver storage units there isn't anything to knife other than food.

I got some stuff from TRC outdoors and their "millionaires chair" is made from 30D nylon so super small and lightweight and is strong enough for a camp chair. @@frostys_bushcraft Thanks for the info! I think for v1.0 I'll just split the difference and test this Hex70 ripstop - - 70D, waterproof rating is comparable to a groundsheet. Not super UL, but it's mostly for winter anyway so I don't mind. If it performs exceptionally well then I'll try going lighter. We shall see!

@@drytoasts9737 let me know how it turns out, 70D could just be the perfect material for this.

@@frostys_bushcraft pardon, nisam odmah napisao. Mors je jednog svog studenta "mlatio" takvom lopatom. Naravno, to je bila šala jer je napomena bila da se ne nosi ništa izvan njegovog seta za preživljavanje. Sjetio se toga kad sam vidio da lopataš :)
