Join me as I get away for an overnight bushcraft wild camp at a new location. The summer heat makes for a difficult hike through the Aussie bush, but I'm rewarded with a swim at a beautiful isolated water hole. I set up the hammock and get caught in the rain in the middle of the night. Hope you all enjoy.
Hooroo!

Good job mate. I've long been a fan of the UK bushcrafting channels and some of the North American guys. It is good to see the Aussies represented. And it is different. For example I was always fascinated to see the UK blokes' elaborate fire starting methods which while interesting was something we rarely worry about with our tinderbox bushland. So keep it up and I look forward to the channel developing.

Have been a long time watcher and fan of the Canadians Joe Robinet, Shawn from My Self Reliance and Dougie from Doug Outside; and a couple of the UK Lads, including Carlisle195 and TA Outdoors, oh and must NOT forget Survival Lily! But I've often wondered why we don't have more Aussie bushcrafters and campers on KZfaq. Discovered your channel a few days ago and am slowly working my way through em. Love the content, and the laid back Aussie style (Byron Bay/Brisbane/Gold Coast lad myself ;)) haha. Keep the vids comin bro, lov'n the channel!

I recently stumbled on your channel. All I can say is that I'm enjoying it very much. Even my wife love it and we've been casting a few videos of yours to the TV instead of watch TV of an evening. I recognise many of the places I've seen in your videos from my young days back in the 1980s and 1990s (yes, I'm that old). The south coast of NSW and the area in behind Ulladulla and Nowra is just beautiful. I have even picked up a few camp cooking ideas however, fire bans in Queensland National Parks makes cooking over a fire difficult. Kudos for your beer selections too. Keep up the great work showing off this beautiful country to the world. Big thumbs up from me. Cheers

Years ago I learnt to protect trees from rope by putting thumb thickness fallen twigs in between the bark and the rope. It's important to look after what we have. In the old days some trees got so over used they got ring barked. Was really sad. I used to go hiking with my family as a child in a similar area. Hope that fire was outside of fire danger season. I love that you are getting into camping. Sawyer squirt water filters are great, highly recommended. I'd encourage you to carry less if you can. Shelter starts with clothing, loose, shoulder covering natural fibres. Your in the Aussie bush...basically the entire thing is "tinder" ;) Have you thought about volunteering with your local CFS? Great way to meet outdoors folk. Also might find its easier to source good quality second hand camping gear and tools from older folk, looking to mentor.

Hi Scott, Greetings from Scotland, i have just sat and watched all your videos mate, and they are great, its a nice change as you say, from the UK, North American, Bushcraft KZfaq perspective. I have never been to Australia, but i am always keen to learn about the fascinating Natural world. I liked watching Ray Mears going walkabout in his program's, also not forgetting old Les Hiddins, another great Bushman! Some of the locations in your videos are stunning, as a keen sea angler myself, some of the areas you are filming are just screaming to be fished,(Yeah, i also used to watched Rex Hunt!). Anyway i digress, so thanks for the videos and keep them coming. Atb. Cheers Stuart. (subbed)

@@ScottysGoneWalkabout I pegged it for NSW too, down here in VIC a hot day is 40's but in that same day it can get down to 12, typical Melbourne weather. Love your video's, keep 'em coming. Really good to see an Aussie get on the tube and post about our country, gives me more understanding what to expect and how to relate with the northern hemisphere videos especially about the hardwoods we have down here and how you have the same trouble finding a straight stick for building shelters.

Oh, a heads up for newbies in the bush. Do NOT camp on or within about 10 feet of a rock outcrop it is the snakes go at night to stay warm and if are silly enough to, you may end up with a bed companion you really don't want. Scotty was in a good position were he camped, the only thing I would pick him for was the shorts but for an Aussie, we tend to pay attention where we put our feet when in the bush. Good job lad keep it up. subbed
@ScottysGoneWalkabout
@ScottysGoneWalkabout 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Gavin, thanks for the feedback mate. Completely agree about the snakes, though in my area there's not a whole lot of flat ground free from rocks to camp. So far I've been lucky. Definitely not keen to shack up with a brown or red belly haha. As for the shorts, it's just too bloody hot to wear pants this time of year. But I am always very cautious of where I put my feet. Thanks for the sub.

Yowies Down Under in WA, yes mate there are shitloads of awesome spots here in WA. Both coastal and inland. I thought I recognised his location area being in the blue mountains of NSW. We have similar type mountains in far north QLD where I grew up as a kid, both granite type bush and also rainforest. The thing I miss here in WA is the cicadas going full on. Haven't heard that noise for many many years being now in Kalgoorlie. Looking forward to going holiday mode this year and the next both here in WA along the coast and over east.

Yowies Down Under in WA, awesome mate, I've had enough of working too many shifts at work ( underground) last 4 months and it's time for a break. Going to take family down south coast and towards Pemberton, Denmark, Walpole and coastal areas for relaxation, fishing, hiking, camping when they got school holidays. Got plans to take family up to the Atherton tablelands QLD and areas of Coast between Townsville through to Cooktown. Might even head out to Karumba in the gulf via Normanton. Just got a few more improvement tasks to do on the vehicle and camping trailer for some trips. Buying a new decent camera also before going tripping around and video camera. And I'll be taking my detectors with us just for some fun.

Yowies Down Under in WA, Josh too mate. Just subbed on your channel. Yeah the Star and Garter is a good pub, good tucker. Best brekkie tucker I found so far is the Hannans pub. Got some major work to do on my ute in various areas but it's still going good so far. Cameras - mate I'm pretty stumped on them bloody things, these new things are just fang dangled complicated, gotta get my kids to explain most of the stuff. I'll just still to a basic Gopro with my boys help. But I'm going buy some decent camera equipment further down the track for sure. Got some bush trips planned for winter here - detecting season on my days off this year, hopefully get lucky find some bits. Cheers Josh I'll look at your channel over the weekend mate. Regards Rick In Kalgoorlie ( almost middle of bloody nowhere) .

Thanks a lot mate. Na not the Blue Mountains, it's a spot just south of Sydney. It doesn't attract too many people which is good. I do love the sound of the cicadas, though my camera mic doesn't haha. Glad you enjoyed it mate!

Just walked up and down to the northCape...almost eleven months and 9000+ Ks but the weather is more Sunny in Australia i can tell you!!!! Used a tarp and bivy all the time..works wonders!

I enjoyed the video but personally I feel like foraging and fishing your meals is always more rewarding than eating stuff bought from a shop. Personally I'd bring a fishing line or yabby trap and make the experience more complete but on a one day trip most of your time is spent just getting there and setting up so I understand why bringing your food with you is more practical.
