I spent the night wild camping in my hammock on the Australian NSW South Coast at a beautiful secluded cove which I had all to myself, except for a few kangaroo's and a million mosquitos!! Hope you all enjoy!

It's been 2 years since this video was released, but I just wanted to show appreciation for the shot at 0:58 that required him to walk along the trees to the far end of the beach to setup his camera, walk back, and then get the scene of him walking across the untouched sand.

I’m always surprised by people hammocking here in Australia. We’ve always been told to not camp under gum trees because you never know when it will drop a branch.

Scotty, there are faster, simpler knots for hammocks. The figure-8 loop on the tree end is fine but all that is needed on the hammock end is a slippery hitch with a quick-release bite through a small steel ring. No caribiner needed, no knots to undo. Tarp ridgeline should be Siberian hitch on one end and truckers hitch with quick release bite on the other. Like you, I cook everything on a grill including pots. I have a thin hard cutting board cut to grill size that makes life easier and stores in same dirty bag.

In your july video, you cooked damper, in the U.K. they call it Banock. hint when you cook it again put only enough flour and salt in a zip lock bag, when you go to cook it just enough water to mix to dough, cut a hole in one corner and squeeze into pan, place on colds, cook. when I was young 1950's we went to fitness camps and we always had some and, we would get a piece of gum branch and wrap the dough around and over the bottom of the stick that's what we filled with golden syrup. if you are looking for people to watch then have a look at carlise195, he's, from the U.K. hope this helps

I haven't seen a eucalyptus tree since I left Maui. They were brought to Maui from Australia by sailors in centuries past. They are one of the most beautiful trees in the world and aren't the leaves the favorite food for koalas? If you have a patreon account I would love to donate to the cause. You could use an Epiphany or Jonhen air bellows for your campfires. I bought one (both) after nearly losing my eyebrows blowing into a campfire that was starting to fade. I ate kangaroo meat in a Coolangatta restaurant in 2001 and thought it was pretty tasty. I couldn't talk my sister in trying it. What a view from your hammock. That was worth all the effort of traveling to the cove...a million dollar view! Another great video, mate. G'day!

Mate, come on....share. South Coast, Snake Bay.....Blacks bombora.....mate, I'm lost. Please give us just a little more info on the destination. I promise not to tell anybody so that it doesn't get spoiled by too many visitors. I reckon a five or six hour drive might get me there...if only you would give a hint or two as to where exactly you were. Pleeeeeze? PS. Love your vids. Love the Aussie content.

So I specifically went searching KZfaq to find a channel like this. As per Vicki Creates comment below I watch all the others but wanted to see the Australian equivalent. I have a lot of similar gear too! One thing I find really handy is a set of adjustable Hammock straps. Makes set up real easy. Keep up the great work and the vids coming.

Thanks a lot mate for the comment. I also got frustrated that there was basically no Australian equivalent. We have such a unique environment that I want to show it off. Good idea about the hammock straps, I've been thinking about investing in some. Would make set up that bit easier. Cheers mate.

nice to see my coastal home again, you bring it in style bro. very cool.. I live in Norway but am from the Northen beaches, hammock camping is what i do here , but i think ya might need a bug net on that hammock mate, and think you should do i video on all the nasty`s in the area and what to do when your sting, bit,or blood sucked, things like ticks, leaches, spitfires, black bull ants, red hoppy joe`s, funnel webs, blue bottles, blue ringed octy, and maybe even when the drop bears attack too!! ha, one good thing here is i do`nt have to check my boots when i put em on in the morning ,thank for the great content its good to see !!!

It's really good to see someone who actually knows their stuff. I don't know why you didnt camp on the sand. Theres nothing like sleeping on a beach.

I know that coastline very well. Spent my youth camping and fishing that bay. There is a local name for that little bay and local history says that in WW2 German submarines were spotted docking in there to recharge their batteries using that same fresh water creek. There was an old farm up on top of the hill. (I wont say the bays name unless asked by Scotty)

A lot of the locals called it Snake bay. That is going back over forty years when I started to go there. On the southern point is a smooth bombora within casting distance. Ive not been there for some years, Seeing you walk down to it brings back a lot of good memories. We used to burn dried sea weed for mozzies, Using two or three small fires about. Love your work BTW, Gets me inspired to "Get out there"

@Funkteon
@Funkteon 3 жыл бұрын
It's a 60 litre capacity bag from the brand 'Columbia', however, they're not made anymore.. If you like this cinch-top style of hiking bag, and you intend to take it to rough places off the beaten track, I would suggest staying away from these thin material rucksacks and go for something like a 'Highlander Forces 66L' which is more like an SAS Bergen (rucksack).. My Coyote Brown one from this design helped me traverse more than 200km across the Lut Desert in Iran a few years ago (basically, the hottest and harshest place on earth).

When filling from creeks, streams and rivers, refill from below the surface of the water to minimise surface borne bacteria and other micro debris on surface entering your drinking container and filtration unit. Just a small tip for ya mate. I've learnt from experience in the past. Great video mate, love the area you picked. Also bush spices seasoning from Mc Cormicks and Masterfoods along with garlic salt makes any meat just that much more delicious. Kangaroo meat is yummy and bloody awesome tucker. Great looking fishing spot.

Was at this spot recently. It looks so different after the fires. The whole area has a thick understory of acacia regrowth, with the trails barely visible is some parts. Sadly a lot of the terrestrial wildlife gone. The bush is coming back, but it was a bit sad to see. We need better forest management in Australia to prevent this happening again.

Agree, the Acacia is now wild and thick, many of my hiking, camping, kayaking locations have transformed. Our Aussie bush sure springs back, but wild life was devastated.
