Used Fujifilm X-E4 cameras are selling for $1500 or so. I would never pay this much for a camera that sold for $850 brand new. In this video I mention just a few of the Fujifilm cameras that are much better values on the used market.

For anyone getting caught up in the Fuji rangefinder craze, I will always recommend stepping back and considering the humble Lumix GX85..a $350 body with IBIS and excellent lens choices, and lets be honest - nearly identical results to Fuji for 90% of photographers if you aren't anal about color science.

The ‘rangefinder’ styled Fuji cameras are fetching an over-inflated price point. I suspect this began with the shortage of the 100V a year or so ago. Rangefinders are “hot” at the moment, especially Fuji and if can afford them, Leica’s ‘M’ lineup. If Fuji announces a continuation of the ‘XE’ lineup, I would not that shocked to see the price of the ‘3’ drop to more reasonable levels. I am happy that I bought my X-E2s, X-Pro 2 and 3 well before this hype began.

As usual Craig your sensible & realistic assessment of the state of the Fuji used market comes from a position of knowledge of the Fuji camera system removed from the irrational hype & in my opinion overpricing that exists with some Fuji models, notably still the X100 series & bizarrely for me now the X-E4. If supply/demand pricing fluctuations were only a few dollars we wouldn't notice but I think it can be so significant in today's market it really pays to do your homework & consider all other maybe not so obvious options in the Fuji line-up. I personally thought the X-E4 was overpriced for what it offered when it was released so the current levels seem totally ridiculous to me. My last purchase in the UK was in May when I picked up a mint X-H1 from MPB for GBP 509, I knew from experience it was the bottom of the market & a bit of a steal at that level, lo and behold now only 5 months later they are charging GBP 674 for the same.

I had a X-E4 and hated it for the way the controls work. Now my X-T4 froze permanent for the second time I ordered a used X-T2 of which I liked the color science better.

If I had to go to MPB today to replace my early through to later 24mp model Fuji's it would cost me 2 1/2 times what I originally paid for them. Thank goodness I acquired them all when I did for sensible prices, they'll never be sold but used until they die.

I bought my x-e3 new with a Fuji 23mm f2 lens for $750. I know my x-e3 has gone up in price in the used market.

I've often thought that Fujifilm was the Japanese Leica in many ways, range of cameras, good to great lenses, and different sensor formats. But cheaper! Now it seems the secondhand prices are following a Leica path too. As you say, there is still good value for money to be found, and foolish prices that make me wonder who pays so much over even new prices...?!

I was lucky enough to find an X-T2 in almost mint condition for about a quarter of its original sale price. Of course I was also looking at the X-E3 for example, which has the same sensor I believe, but one of those would have been more than 50% more expensive at least. And doesn't have all the nice physical dials and weather sealing etc. An X-Pro 2 would have been 3 times the price lol. Pretty crazy

Ihave an xt30 and the only reason why I want to upgrade to a different camera is for IBIS and the view finder. After watching your video of the XH1 I am leaning towards it. The only thing I'm considering against the XH1 is the battery life. Is it really as bad as people mention?

I’ve never had an issue with the X-H1 battery life. But I also don’t have any issue with having a few extra batteries with me that are charged and ready to go.

Leica M is now the budget option if you can't afford a Fuji ;)

Only because someone offers the X-E4 for $1,500 does not mean that he sells it for $1,500. We don’t know at what price they’re actually sold (or if they’re sold at all).

They are listed on sites that sell used gear for that price, not just eBay.

@@CraigBergonzoni Even these sites might be tempted to take advantage of the current market situation but I agree that they 're possibly a better price reference than for example eBay.

I've been watching the XE4 on MPB and the SKUs get sold for those inflated prices. There's a constant fluctuation of available SKUs there. So people buy them. Which is crazy. @@jorghahn2903
