It's amazing to me to think that when that mine was in full operation there wasn't a tree to be seen on any of those mountain sides. Mother Nature always reclaims. Excellent video

Visited Overton No. 1 in early 70’s. Portal was open then but the roof looked so unstable I didn’t far inside. Iron bridge running over the Cahaba River was still intact then. And the mine commissary just off Overton Road still exists no more than a mile from Overton No. 1. Never visited No. 2. It must be upstream from No.1.
