The Book of Judges is very relevant to our modern day. Just like for them, our nation is filled with individuals who do what seems right in their own eyes. Pursuing what seems right to us and ignoring what God has revealed and commanded leads to disunity and strife.
By the grace of God, and because of His amazing kindness, we can turn to Him and walk in His ways. The only question is: will we?

Excellent video! I especially appreciate the incorporation or the term ‘nadir’. Also a great point about not thinking we can hang on to certain ‘respectable sins’.

I've been thinking about it since I first read your comment ... not sure I've ever heard anyone say Judges was their favorite OT book. Any particular reason? Curious if you're willing to share! :)

@@theexaltedchrist7382 Having been mostly a New Testament reader, I had maybe a more shallow or more limited perspective and understanding of scripture as a whole- and even of God too. As are all of us, I'm constantly growing in knowing Him and His ways. When I had first started studying the Old Testament all the way through, to be honest, I initially had trouble seeing the compassionate, merciful, loving characteristics that I feel like I had previously seen more in Christ in the NT - while at the same time seeing such seriousness and holiness of God as I was seeing in the first books of the Bible. As grim as the book of Judges seems to most people, I see great hope of repentance. It helped me to understand and process through the depth of my wickedness, as well as what persistence or length the Lord has always gone through to to reconcile us, to discipline us, and to bring us back to Him. Lastly, when Paul talks about the severity and kindness of God in Romans... I think Judges gives us a picture of what that looks like.

If ? You think you are free from Sin you have been decieved by the devil. Luke4:13,12. The devil is always present Even though he departs for a Season (Time) only to wait for your Weakest Moments. Shalowm. Amen HalleluYahh Jeremiah23:6.

Amen. 1 John 1:8, 1 Peter 5:8, and Ephesians 4:26-27 are good verses for followers of Christ to think deeply on.

Do we know which idol Micah built a temple to? Was this the territory that was conquered in the North by Dan? They held this territory longer than the one which God had given them?
@theexaltedchrist7382
@theexaltedchrist7382 Жыл бұрын
Great questions! As I read the text, it doesn't name the god or god(s) Micah had a shrine for, but he did have several idols and images in his possession (Judges 18:14, 17, 20). Regarding the territory, it seems that Dan took a while to fully possess the land they were allotted - compare Joshua 19:40-48 with Judges 18. Be blessed in your continued study of God's word!

Why the word 'GOD' is not mentioned like in Song of Solomon?
@theexaltedchrist7382
@theexaltedchrist7382 Жыл бұрын
Hi Samuel Chandrashaker - thanks for watching and commenting! I'm not sure I understand your question fully. The word "God" appears in the book of Judges around 50 times (more than 70 if we include "gods"). I'm guessing you just asked on this video because we don't (yet) have a Song of Solomon video and are not asking about Judges but just about Song of Solomon... in that particular case, I think the topic matter of Song of Solomon is explicitly about the marriage relationship. As such, it is theologically relevant to an understanding of the biblical concept of "sexual morality." It is a book that focuses on human relationships and, therefore, God is not explicitly at the forefront of the discussion. Taken with the whole of Scripture, we see back in Genesis 2:24 that God created marriage. So, while God is not explicitly mentioned in Song of Solomon, God is implicitly part of the discussion as the Creator and Designer of human marriage relationships. More could be said, but I'll leave it there for now. What do you think?

This place is not and has never been holy. All the words we use, the days of the week, even this language itself. They tricked us. We are more like Daniel and the other three. Surrounded by darkness. Don't have any illusions that this place is clean or that this place is ours. It never has been.
