Is the Son and the Father the same individual?
@theexaltedchrist73824 күн бұрын
Thanks for your question. The trinitarian understanding of God's revelation of Himself is that there is ONE God who exists eternally as THREE distinct Persons. The Father and the Son are both God (ONE) but are distinct in their Person (THREE). The Bible does not teach that there are three gods -- nor does the Bible teach that the Father and the Son (and the Spirit) are the same Person. Grace and peace to you.

@@theexaltedchrist7382 Ok, is a distinct person an individual?
@theexaltedchrist73824 күн бұрын
I'm not sure how you'd define an "individual." Yes, there is a distinction between the person of the Father and the person of the Son. That is, the Father is not the Son and the Son is not the Father. However, they are one. "I and the Father are one." (John 10:30) It seems you're trying to lead me somewhere. If that's the case, why don't you just state the point you want to make? Grace and peace to you.

Modern Bibles and KJV bibles are not the same Bibles nor are they translated from the same manuscripts the KJV Bible is the only one translated from the manuscripts that was considered the inspired words of God for the first 1800 years the new critical text Bibles are only translated from the critical text manuscripts thank God must have kept hidden from his church for 1800 years.

Another great discussion. It seems the prince mentioned in Daniel 9 would reference Titus, since it uses language to describe the people of the prince destroying the city and sanctuary - the Romans destroying Jerusalem and the temple in 70 a.d. I too have had trouble understanding the gap theory between week 69 and 70. The abomination of desolation always seemed clear to me as describing 70 a.d. as well in Matthew 24:15/Mark 13:14/Luke 21:20 with similar language in Daniel 9.
@theexaltedchrist738225 күн бұрын
@ryansiery634 Glad you enjoyed the discussion! Thanks for adding your perspective. If the "prince to come" is Titus, what is "the firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering"? Are you saying Titus made this covenant? Titus was born in AD 39 (according to Wikipedia). Jesus was crucified c. AD 30. If the 70 weeks were all fulfilled without any gap of any kind, seems to me Titus wasn't even born within the sequential 70 Weeks. If this was supposedly fulfilled in AD 70, how do events 40 years later fulfill the final seven-year period in your view without a gap? Still seems like there's a gap between the 69th and 70th week, unless I'm misunderstanding your view.

The amillennial position is a hopeless point of view which prevents proper understanding of the flow and interpretation of scripture. The explanation of the amillennialism leaves one confused like what are you talking about; when scripture is not rightly devided confusion is the result.

At the end of the day my subjective opinion about what would be more impressive doesn't matter compared to what the Bible says about the means by which God chooses to glorify himself. The Bible teaches that God knows the future because he has determined it, and that our wills are not somehow metaphysically separate from God's causal influence.
@theexaltedchrist738228 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing your perspective @tobyjmoore! Where does the Bible teach that "God knows the future because he has determined it"? It seems we both agree (unless I'm misunderstanding you) that God is able to bring about His intended purposes and that no one can thwart His will, but the inclusion all throughout Scripture of if/then statements of differing pathways to those ends do not fit with rigid determinism or the way most people would interpret your phrase that "God has determined the future." One example: 17 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, Who leads you in the way you should go. 18 “If only you had paid attention to My commandments! Then your well-being would have been like a river, And your righteousness like the waves of the sea. 19 “Your descendants would have been like the sand, And your offspring like its grains; Their name would never be cut off or destroyed from My presence.” (Isaiah 48:17-19) God says it could have gone better for His people if they would have listened to Him. If only they had paid attention, their future would have been better than the one they actually received! There are many more passages like this in Scripture in which God declares that there are multiple paths that could be walked out in the future. These do not fit with hard determinism unless we say God's word doesn't mean what it plainly says. Grace and peace to you.

I'm familiar with the full preterist view, having studied preterism a few years ago. I came to the conclusion that while partial preterism is a biblical position, full preterism is not. As far as I know, full preterism didn't exist in the church until the 1800's, and the man who taught it eventually recanted. That all prophecy was fulfilled by 70 AD with the destruction of Jerusalem seems inconsistent with Daniel 2:31-35 which is a prophecy that includes the fall of Rome, an event that occurred long after 70 AD. I don't have the time or space to cover all the verses you mentioned, but I've dealt with all of them before. I want to lovingly ask you to reconsider full preterism and embrace an eschatology that acknowledges a future return of Christ to judge the whole world and establish a literal, visible kingdom in which the saints will rule with Christ forever.

@26:00 - After much thought and study, I adopted (pun intended) the Full Preterist position and so this "fuller sense" became a reality with the destruction of the physical temple through the Roman army around AD70. Through that event, the Jewish enemies of the faith were rendered powerless because Jesus's prophecy came true, vindicating the believers in him. At this point, there was a change in power on the spirtual playing field and the Church began to take on a firmer root and growth. Of course as a full preterist, the reason this happened is that Satan was destroyed per Revelation 20 and so there was no longer any demonic influence on the nations. Also the "rest" spoken about in Hebrews 4 started after that, the second "promised land" motif which parallels the first after the 40 years that Moses led the Israelites in the desert (which mirrors the Apostles leading the early church from AD30-70 which is also when all of the NT scripture was written). It all makes way more sense to me now and I don't have to read all of the stuff below with a scratch of the head anymore: -Jesus’s Testimony- “For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.” - Matthew 16:27-28 “Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!” - John 21:22 -Peter’s Testimony- “The end of all things is at hand…” - 1 Peter 4:7 “And after you have suffered A LITTLE WHILE, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will HIMSELF restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” - 1 Peter 5:10 -John’s Testimony- “...the world is passing away along with its desires… it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour.” - 1 John 2:17-18 -James’s Testimony- “Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord… Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door.” - James 5:7-9 -Paul’s Testimony- “…The Lord is at hand;” - Philippians 4:5b “This is what I mean, brothers: the appointed time has grown very short. From now on, let those who have wives live as though they had none, and those who mourn as though they were not mourning, and those who rejoice as though they were not rejoicing, and those who buy as though they had no goods, and those who deal with the world as though they had no dealings with it. For the present form of this world is passing away.” - 1 Corinthians 7:29-31 “Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come.” - 1 Corinthians 10:11 “For he says, “In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” - 2 Corinthians 6:2 “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet…” - Romans 16:20a -Revelation’s Testimony- “The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that MUST SOON TAKE PLACE. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John… Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for THE TIME IS NEAR.” - Revelation 1:1-3 “And he said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true. And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his servants what MUST SOON TAKE PLACE. And behold, I am COMING SOON. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book… And he said to me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for THE TIME IS NEAR… Behold, I am COMING SOON, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done.” - Revelation 22:6-12 “He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am COMING SOON.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!” - Revelation 22:20

How can regeneration occur without faith happening first? That way of thinking is completely illogical on its face.
@SheepDog1974Ай бұрын
1:42:54 scripture doesn't have to specifically state RPF because hermeneutics teaches otherwise... Contextual in its entirety the gospel of Jesus Christ requires our hearts yielding in faith to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior Romans 10:9-11 And Colossians 2:9-12

The argument for Faith preceding Regeneration is what's most biblically supported. RPF is simply not true, and ultimately calvinism preaches a different gospel

People will often say how the regeneration is sudden and if you didn’t have an Ah Ha moment, then maybe you’re not saved. I’m not so sure it works that way for everyone.

One of my sons says that Jesus has hold of you before you even realize it. I can see in our other son how he’s been reading the Bible and maturing and growing, but not quite given over fully to faith yet. It’s kinda wild to watch the regeneration happening in real time. Happened that way for me too. The Holy Spirit had me reading and talking with Him before I realized I was already faithful.

This paradigm parallels the concept of public education; after generations of families being separated and outsourcing the education of their children in general, it is very “normal” to parents to let the “experts” take care of all parts of their child’s education, including spiritual education. This could be one factor in the issue about fathers neglecting the catechizing their children. From a young age, many children are separated from their parents for most daily life and placed under the discipline of outside people from the family. Just an observation!

Regarding why people dont believe (1:15:00), it seems we have an explanation. John 3:18-19 NKJV [18] “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [19] And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

I can only talk for myself. In my case regeneration clearly preceded faith. It started with that God reactivated my conscience. That was very painful, but necessary. I was devastated. A short time after that a had an strong urge to hear the word of God. I sat in my car and tuned in a Christian radio station and heard the Gospel. My heart melted. And I believed. This was 2011.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Some Christians would say that the conviction you experienced was enabling grace (John 16:8), not regeneration. But the important thing is that it led to your salvation.
