In this talk, we will peek under the hood of an operating system to understand how the operating system's network stack processes network packets. We will briefly understand how network packets are received and processed inside the Linux kernel before they are delivered to networking applications. We will also learn about some new additions to the Linux network stack, including the extended Berkeley Packet Filter (eBPF) and eXpress Data Path (XDP) that can be used to process packets at very high rates.
