I purchased my first Minn Kota Trolling Motor this spring for my new boat. It's a 55lb Terrova with the hand-held i-Pilot. If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely purchase one that has the motor to deploy and recover the motor. This would be extremely useful for I am often launching and recovering my boat by my self. The ability to REMOTELY move the boat away from the launch area and Lock it in place and then call it to the dock after parking the trailer, would be a HUGE benefit.

Bought an Ulterra a week ago for my week long houseboat/fishing trip. It was nothing but garbage. Never had an issue with my 14 year old Terrova. I had to emergency manually stow the Ulterra every time and the prop finally just stopped spinning AT ALL, even though the remote showed it should be. Worst part is to emergency stow you have to take it apart OVER THE WATER.

Yeah never remotely do this or one day you will be swimming after your boat. Ask me how I know.

Maybe they improved the junk lock aka spot lock so it will actually hold you in place instead of in a 12 ft range

Unfortunately I’ve had a lot of problems with my spot lock to. Ruined many good fishing areas.

I used this motor on my SunDolphin SunSlider paddle boat, kzfaq.infoUgkxBZWgzfpS2Jj7JqIHyaSZjyVHNUgCKCBf as a substitute for peddling. i've used it once so far. My boats weight capacity is 545lbs. This 36ft lbs thrust motor propelled our little crew with ease. My friend, son and myself weigh 371 lbs combined, plus the weight of equipment. I truly enjoyed the little motor, it was super easy to install and works well. The motor itself is pretty lightweight. I will need to use it more to be able to comment on quality/durability. Many of the touch points are plastic which feels a bit cheap, but this is my first trolling motor so I don't know if this is normal. Considering the price point it's probably what you should expect. All in all I believe I got what I paid for and it does what I've asked of it. I would recommend. Kayak's, Canoe's, Small Dinghy's and Paddle Boats, I think its suitable for these applications.

They only came out with quest to compete with garmin and powerpole. They could've done this to begin with but they said why would we

Sucks that there’s no auto deploy or auto trim. Also, sounds like you have to use a Hummingbird GPS to follow a track. That’s a bunch of features from the Ulterra that have been taken away.
