Overvolting toys! VINTAGE edition

All toys except for Little Daisy were broken when I bought them, repaired, and repaired again after the video.
The rabbit and dog had the original motor, I just fixed the brushes.
Ape got a new motor, probably why it lasted so long.
According to the seller, these are from ~1960s, but I'm not sure.,

I put higher voltage on more toys primarily using a 0-30V bench power supply. But some toys required even more voltage to die! I Use a Variac with a full bridge rectifier (input 230V) when I need more than 30V.

They are very well made and have complex mechanics allowing them to switch behavior depending on the polarity of the motor

Wow i totally didn't expect the vintage toys to have metal mechanics and gears. That caught me by surprise. And reversing the polarity makes it do something different is so cool. It remids me if the old school whirlpool direct drive washers.

Being a toy, you got one job. Making those kids happy. Their enjoyment is a burden that you must carry throughout your whole existence. Just keep on dancing and dancing and dancing, no matter how many volts they put through you. You just keep dancing until you can't no more. Then you will be sent to a landfill site where you will dread your final moments alive before being crushed into thousands of tiny pieces.

And these kind of toys don't run on an IC chip which modern toys use for their programming. These motors run when on, and stop when off. They have no specific programming or resistor that items today would have, hence what explodes in modern items.

I know they're not toys, but I wonder if you could overvolt a tape recorder or a record player? I myself don't like items being destroyed, but like to see and hear them run too fast, or even too slowly.

I tried to get a cymbal monkey, but unfortunately I couldn't find one in my country or the EU for a reasonable price. Importing one from Japan or US would cost more in shipping than the toy itself. I'd love to have one, really cool/weird toy 🙂

Well, the mechanics and motor can easily be repaired, but most of the cheap China toys just have a "chip-on-board" as a control & audio circuit. So you'd have to replace it with whole new board and program new sound. Not worth it for most cheap toys
