oh hey it's another long one hahahaha said it wasnt going to be as long as the two larrikins and a d.va ones hahahaha turns out to be true but only just barely and mainly because this one doesnt have as many extras hahahahaHAHAHAHAUHUGHAUGHUUHAHAAAAAA~ ahhhh i need sleep thank you risu for supplying me with this the sweetest of comic adaptational agonies
ANYWAY! Some notes about the production of this particular OW AWNN:
1) Welcome Stephen Lynch to the cast as the voice of Mercy's Papi! Also, goodbye to that character in the very same episode! Maybe we'll see him again in flashbacks. o: Thanks Stephen for dying like a champ, in any case? Gotta be a better way to word that...
2) Tiana Camacho why you make me cry and then force me to choose which of your cry takes makes me the most cryiest. STOP PLAYING WITH MY HEARTSTRINGS WOMAN o: On the plus side, I get to inflict the crying on y'all so HA!
3) Midway through mixing, I realised that I was missing precisely two (2) lines. Two lines that were each just one word long, even! Fortunately, Risu had drawn the comic in such a way that I could easily cut out the missing lines and none would be the wiser, hon hon hon~!
4) Related to the above, I received the best reason from somebody not able to record something on such short notice (apart from the obvious: it's short notice). They'd gone overseas to work in Disneyland Paris and wouldn't be able to access their home recording equipment until September. Fair enough.
5) The infected Omnic chanting was actually just me reading out the names of the OW AWNN cast and then heavily post-processing it up the wazoo! It was based on a similar effect from Metal Gear Solid, during the sequence showcasing Cyborg Ninja's swath of destruction.
6) I'm actually really proud of the transitions and layers of motion I put into this piece! But wow is it mentally exhausting keeping track of where every element is supposed to be and making sure they don't obscure each other (unless they're meant to). "Let's never do that again!" I say as I plan to do it again. THE FOOL (who is me)
7) I hope everyone appreciated the use of "Laid Back Guitars" and recalls the last time it was used in another OW AWNN where Mercy also fails to save someone. Winky face ;)

The fan comics provided the basis, but your consistently-stellar roster of VAs has really helped sell the Omnic Crisis as the horrible, scarring event that it's supposed to be in Overwatch's backstory. Getting to see the nightmarish warfare in things like Bastion and Reinhardt's trailers is one thing, but those don't really advertise the fact that this wasn't some sudden, alien foe swarming over the walls of nations. The god-programs that essentially orchestrated the Omnic Crisis could, and did, seize control of pretty much any omnic (or sufficiently-computerized machine) they could, which was in no way limited to the war-machines they were churning out in the Omniums. So, kudos, I guess. I've said more than probably necessary, but that's what it boils down to: you and everyone you've been working with are doing damn fine work, so...thanks.

Watching the omnic crisis from the perspective of the soldiers is sad but personally I think it's a lot more heart breaking when you watch it from the perspective of the children who Lost their families is a lot more heart breaking

This is amazing! The few pictures from Lucerne actually look like the city, and the fact that she calls her parents Mami and Papi, and that her father calls her Müüsli (something my father also called me) is reminding me of when I was around her age. Which makes this whole Comic even sadder.

Calineos I thought it was after the Omnic crisis when the omnics gained sentience. The thought of fully sentient omnics being enslaved by the God AI is chilling.

All the omnics had no choice, I guess. Even the first Bastions and OR-Units had no evil intent towards humans. I'm not sure how it works, but this mysterious Omnica Corporation created sentient beings, AI. All of them had the ability to learn and grow with their tasks, that's what was the catch. Most of them had probably limited space on their disc-brains, enough to keep them on human level or slightly below, enough for Omnics with specific, but repetitive tasks. The God-Tier-Class had no limits, they reached a level close to the singularity, so they became almost gods. They could develop their code inside the abandoned factories, while the omnics outside still did their "life" stuff. Then these Gods woke up, connected, and decided to kill the weak, but still somewhat dangerous humans. Some "I, Robot" situation might have gone down, where they took control over every compatible Omnic they could reach. The smarter ones maybe ripped out their antennas befor a virus hit them our fought them back with brainpower. Or it happened like in the comic, where they even still had some sentience left while their bodies went rogue. But: It's just my theory. Until Blizzard (re)writes something better! :D

We can infer from some dialog that omnic monks like zenyata were unaffected by the god programs so it might be less overriding their control of themselves but more implanting a strong desire to kill humans so the omnics with clearer more peaceful minds were able to resist but ones with more stress were vulnerable

Honestly, I love it when people make comics like these, because it helps to kick you in the gut and realise how much the heroes have been through. There was a worldwide robot apocalypse. Some heroes lost everything, like junkrat and Roadhog and even the heroes who still had their families had to watch people die. It's rough

Great Voiceacting for an amazing Comic as always. Only one thing that bothers me is the Word Müüsli and i don't mean the pronunciation but the use of it. I would have suggested the word Engel/Engelchen (Angel). Then again this would be harder to pronounce then Müüsli, lazy and obvious. But overall Amazing.

This hits hard for me. I lost my dad years ago, and this...this brings me back. I knew couldn't do anything to help, i was 11 - but it still hurt knowing that I had lost one of the people I was most close with. It just...gaugh. It pulls at my heart in the worst ways.
