Growing this natural sweetener in a container is not only easy but rewarding. Stevia plants can be overwinter in zone 5b indoors on a sunny windowsill or under a grow light.
I will share with you how to increase your supply of stevia plants by propagating stevia from cuttings.

Very informative! Thank you for the inspiration I needed to overwinter my stevia and grow cuttings from it. I love your idea of placing the cuttings pot inside a Ziploc bag for humidity. I've never heard of doing that before.

I was surprised to see clip and straight into dirt and not in water for roots...I learned something new. Glad you made this . Before I decided to try to propagate.

Thank you for your comment. Yes I usually pinch 1 to 4 leaves from the top of a branch to sweeten a cup of tea. You can also steep the fresh leaves along with your tea bag in one cup of hot water.

Shalom. I purchased and planted Outsidepride Stevia Sweetleaf seeds in mid 08/2019. Had about 6 seeds that sprouted, but only one survived the fungus and fungus knats. The plant is about a foot tall and like yours at the bottom is very bare as the top appears to be very healthy especially after cutting a white flower was blooming. Also, my leaves aren't as big as yours. However, I'm planning on taking at least two clippings after I'm able to identify two nodes. I'll follow basically the same steps as you expect I'll place them onto the windowsill with low direct sunlight. I'm in Zone 9a. So, I'd like to know after about three months have your cuttings rooted yet? Do you keep the soil moist as soon as the top layer is dry? Thanks in advance and for this video.

Thank you for your comment. Happy to here about the success of one of your stevia plant. My clipping has rooted and doing well, but growth is slow. I check to see if the soil is moist below the top layer before watering, I do not want to over watered. Happy gardening.

Stevia seeds should be cold stratified prior to planting.

I really don't know what all the hub-bub is over growing them from seed. I bought a packet of Stevia seeds from outsidepride on amazon back in February. It had about 30 seeds in it, and I surface sowed 15 of them on some Jiffy organic seed starting mix in a four-inch pot. I put a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle of water and gently misted the seeds until moist to keep pathogens away. I put the pot in a quart freezer bag and put it under my grow light. The temperature stayed between 60 - 80 degrees Fahrenheit. In just four days, 15 of the 20 seeds germinated. I gradually opened the bag over a couple of days to get the seedlings used to lower humidity, then removed the bag completely. When the seedlings were a couple of inches tall, I used a thin object to bury 6 Osmocote 14-14-14 slow release fertilizer pellets an inch deep, evenly spaced among the seedlings. I know a lot of people suggest cold stratification, but why would a tropical plant need that? This was my first try growing Stevia plants in any form. The seedlings all survived, but two became runts temporarily because I let them stay in the original pot too long. I was able to separate them all nicely and now I have a decent crop going outside in direct sun. The runts even recovered and are growing strong and fast. The fresh leaves are even sweeter than the refined store-bought products, but still have a bit of their distinctive aftertaste. Even though I don't have any trouble growing them from seed, I watched this video because I like propagating plants and needed a starting point for Stevia now that I have some material to work with.

Normally it take about a week or two before root appears. This is from my Mint cuttings. Normally i place them in water mixed with rooting powder then leave it in there until the root. Additional care is to change the water every 2 - 3 days, i shine grow light on them every night and off it when i wake up. Once it starts rooting and its long enough, you can then introduce them into soil. Add some rooting powder on the ground end before you push the cutting into the soil to help it root some more, which helps the plants to lock itself into position faster. Be careful not to let it get full sunlight immediately after, they won't be used to it. Progressive training, my fellow gardener.
