Michael Sheen is a legendary actor who has played, amongst others, Brian Clough, Tony Blair and David Frost. He's also a proud Welshman, who grew up in Port Talbot. He told me he believes the Brexit campaign's message of 'take back control' resonated strongly with British communities that have felt abandoned by successive governments since the miners' strike in the 1980s. Communities that have been left behind in the rush towards globalisation.
We also discussed the similarities between the Brexit vote in the UK and the reasons for Donald Trump's popularity in the US, the lack of working class actors in film and television in the UK and why that may be damaging our society and his own stirring speech on the importance of the NHS.
