☕️✨ Hello! Join me on this journey as I share my experience transitioning from a barista to becoming the owner of the same coffee shop I worked in. I’ll share the ups and downs of this transition and the valuable lessons I’ve learned along the way. One of the key insights I’ll discuss is the importance of maintaining a servant-minded approach. This mindset not only enhances the customer experience but also creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. Whether you’re a fellow barista, a coffee aficionado, or simply curious about the hospitality industry, this video offers a genuine glimpse into my world.

It’a Saturday morning here in Oslo, Norway, and I’m under the blanket on the sofa enjoying your vlog. I can’t wrap my head around how you have the energy to run a café AND film/ edit these nice videos. You are a superwoman! Hope you find the time to relax and have some me-time. Thanks for taking us along on your journey. ❤

The servant-minded section make me this of this particular barista. a sweet older lady. I stopped at a random cafe after shopping and got an Iced Coffee. They were so good and she was so nice, right? What's wild is that I got hooked onto ice coffees ONLY made by her. Even with all the same ingredients and equipment, the coffee never tastes nearly as good if another worker made it. It was just cold coffee. But hers was a amazing. She seems really meant for the job and you can taste it. One time, the coffee was simply divine. When I complimented her, she smiled and admitted to making it extra special that day. I could cry 😭✨I haven't seen her for a few days and I'm scared she's not employed there anymore. I may never drink an iced coffee again!

Love the new style of caption! The color is vibrant and the background makes it easy to read❤ I think I saw you experience with a few different styles in the past few videos, which I truly appreciate. I could feel the dedication and thoughtfulness you put into content creating, just like the way you managed your cafe with love❤And personally, to answer the question in the video, I think that is exactly what would make me want to grab my keys, drive for 20-30 mins, find a parking lot, wait in a line, make an order... and just take a sip of the coffee that would convey all the warmth and care you have shown us in your videos. So glad I found this channel, it's a real gem. Hope you do well on your business, looking forward to the next vlog🥰

I truly love your explanation of what its like being a barista. This was a beautifully put video. I am a current barista & i started off with so much love. Talking to people. Making the best drinks that they can feel love in the warmth of the drink. But i realized that the owners never protected me when it came to rude customers. Instead would say, maybe i could work on my face or my pours. And my love for being a barista started to drain & burnout started taking place...

I am so sad to hear that you had this experience. 🥺 Being a barista is such a fulfilling job when your heart is to serve, but I know how difficult it is to work for someone who is not willing to serve you back. My husband and I strive to serve our employees and treat them with kindness and respect. I hope you find a perfect place for you to do what you love! 🤍

Great BTS video! Really informative I just wanted to say thanks for using the domed tops! ☺️ I hate when I order my latte with whipped cream & drizzle all for the barista to flatten it🤦🏽‍♀️ it’s the small things lol *also just by watching your videos you have a leg up on the big chains & my local Starbucks. Starbucks quality isn’t the same anymore, which is why a lot of us on the east coast tend to go to more niche cafes if we live near the city. As long as the service is pleasant & great & some unique food item (bc the food at chains suck) small shops will always have the edge.

i thought this was in harlem ny thats what piqued my interest. also im learning more about being servant minded in the service industry in this video. i am currently in the service industry and i feel that i have had to develop tough skin when serving tables. i personally take joy in caring for customers and making their experience a little bit more special if i can. however, it gets tough when all that effort goes unseen and unrecognized. or even worse - a mediocre tip or no tip at all. i understand this reflects the customer themselves. it also leaves the server tired becuz of the amount of energy, time and effort put in. i live in an area where people dont feel like they should ever tip for excellent service and some feel like they do. so ive had to conserve my energy over the years.

Thank you so much for sharing. I definitely understand what you mean about conserving energy. I think sometimes people misunderstand servant-mindedness to be like pushovers. But I think true kindness is always partnered with truth. Thankfully, our city is filled with kind and generous people. We rarely ever get unpleasant customers. But when it happens, then I feel the freedom to express my boundaries. My husband and I try to encourage and protect our employees’ boundaries between us, each other, and the customers as well! I hope you take care of yourself!! 🥺 Rooting for you!

how did you start as a barista? i want to learn to make drinks ( i have food service background ), but cafe's want experienced baristas. i'm willing to learn, but i understand that's not something all shops have time for
@destrucshann

I didn’t have any barista (or food service) experience prior to this job either. I think (good) cafes look for people who have great personalities and are willing to serve others. That’s all I talked about during my interview. Now as a cafe owner, I only look for that. I don’t mind if people apply with no barista experience bc coffee skills can be taught and learned. But being kind and being passionate about serving others and the community are qualities that are very, very hard to teach (if even possible). I hope that makes sense!
@kuchikoyi
