If you’re ever in Los Angeles again, you’re welcome to drive my Mini. With some tasteful, relatively low price mods, you can reliably get the car to 70HP to the wheels. But with some pricy mods, you can get an overdrive 5th gear and 10.5 inch disk brakes.

The Mini truly was Austins finest. Even being inducted into Leyland wasn't enough to kill it. Mid-80s are the best ones imo. Get on the French classifieds and find yourself one, you know you want too!

These two videos really make me want one. The only downside with 80s ones is the doudy interior, that's the one thing I'd swap! But there's so many options.... I waunt ittttttttt
@SpitfireFortyFour
@SpitfireFortyFour 4 ай бұрын
@@Petrospect I agree the 80s interior is ugly. But it's also the best in terms of usability which is why I like it. It has proper ventilation like the late interior without any serious trim rattle issues like the earlier cars. And go and buy one, they're great! Or if you want the driving experience and get hard over '80s exterior styling get an Austin Metro.

Damn I want this car so bad! I grew up with tuners, mostly VW's and B5 Audi's. But lately, thanks to hanging out with a bunch of older gentlemen, I have started to really appreciate the British stuff. I've been searching for the right car and discovered the later minis. They seem like the perfect package. Time to go get myself yet another digital download!

I leaned to drive in one of these in mid-'70s Berks County Pennsylvania. An aunt of mine's husband imported it in the early '60s, and my father said he knew a guy who could repaint it; the bad result of that was the start of a family rift that persists to this day ... but we had it for about six months. You still see a lot of them in continental Europe. The new BMW Minis are actually great cars (my daughter drives one) with a lot of the same look-and-feel. By the way, the Land Rover's basic design ran from 1948-2016, shipping just over two million units; the New Defender is a great truck, but I felt compelled to buy one of the last 2016 models.

First car was a Classic Mini Cooper with a 1380 engine and fat Ultralites. Apparently easy to steal back in the day too, take 2 snap bolts and your own steering column. Snap, snap, plug yours in and vroom vroom. Although these days you only need a signal repeater for modern "safer/anti theft" cars lol.

my first car was a BL Mini 1000 HL. The anti theft device was my Dad teaching me how to remove the motor arm along with an aftermarket lockable cover for the bonnet release.
