Ozzy said that Diary of a Mad Man and S.A.T.O. weren’t written to be performed live. Which sucks because they’re both so great. I’d give almost anything to have been able to see Randy Rhoads play this live, just to see what he could’ve done with it.

Yeah I got to see the tour but they resumed the tour back in Bethlehem Pennsylvania Stabler Arena. After Randy was killed so I didn't get to see Randy play it was in late March 82. UFO opened up for them and Michael Schenker played a tribute to Randy Rhoads the song Dee. They opened up with the interlude To Diary of a Madman and then went into over the mountain and then flying high ! And I guess I need to add that Stabler Arena was the first show after Randy was killed two weeks earlier. Bought two tickets 2 months earlier for $9 a piece good days gone by, Rudy sarzo was on base, Don Airey on keyboards and Tommy Aldridge on drums the guitar player was Bernie Torme but that was only for two weeks? I guess at that point he got Brad Gillis from Night Ranger !

True story, Kelle and Dee told me and my brother at a memorial for Randy's birthday at his Resting place in 1995. We asked a lot of questions and we got to ask "Why he never played Diary of a Madman live. Kelle laughed, and Delores, who was a wonderful person to spend all this time with 2 kids she never met said "Randy used some classical artists for the intro and part of the chorus, when Ozzy sings "a sickened mind and spirt..." Randy called after they released the album and said he would not play that live because he felt like he was cheating by using another guitarists songs" I cant remember the 2 classical songs Randy used for Diary. But Dee was great even taking pictures with us on a disposable camera, then telling us to take more "in case you blinked, or I did" She was great. As for me I was 11and my parents decided to take me to see Randy Rhoads..I was so excited, then deflated, tickets were for a show at the Nassau Colliseum in Long Island NY, however they were for a show in June 1982 :( #RRR

OZZY OSBOURNE: THURSDAY MARCH 18TH 1982: RANDY RHOADS LAST SHOW AT THE KNOXVILLE CIVIC COLISEUM: DIARY OF A MADMAN TOUR: Upon entering the coliseum after buying my tour shirt and ticket 🎫 stub processing: I noticed the stage was set up like a medieval castle with arches and bats 🦇 flying around the top of them. There was a staircase leading up to Tommy Aldridge’s Drumkit. The top left of Tommy was where Donny Airey’s keyboards were set up. Stage right and left had to cages with which Randy Rhoads would appear from the floor stage right and Rudy Sarzo stage left. OZZY had a throne of which he would appear out of to start the show to Over the Mountain. Tommy had his drum tech dressed as an Executioner stand beside his kit with his arms crossed. The staircase had a small section that would open and a small dwarf named: Ronnie (after Ronnie James Dio the new singer for Black Sabbath-replacing OZZY) and hand OZZY towels and water between songs. Little did we all know that later in the show: the executioner would bring the dwarf out to be hung from the rafters and later he would cut off his head using a guillotine! At the end of the show OZZY climbed onto a giant mechanical hand that OZZY stood on top of and launched unspecified meat 🥩 🍖 into the audience! Of course it was all an a theatrical act as the dwarf appeared to take a bow with OZZY and the band. When OZZY smiled we noticed he put vampire 🧛‍♀️ teeth in! We laughed hard! I went to the show with my friend Richard and his older brother Greg who was 18 at the time. We were 13. Greatest show on earth! Richard and I were both terrified and thrilled at what we witnessed! Unfortunately the next morning all that excitement and energy was gone as we learned that Randy Rhoads perished in a plane crash in Florida. Richard and I played drums but Greg played guitar 🎸 and he definitely took it the hardest! One of the greatest guitarist of our generation and had just won the new guitarist of the year by Guitar Player magazine. Rest In Peace Randy Rhoads your music lives on! Sincerely, Gary Lagstrom RONNIE THE DWARF: PLAYED BY JOHN ALLEN: HUNG DURING GOODBYE TO ROMANCE HEAD CUT OFF BEFORE LAST SONG: PARANOID

If you guys want to see the original live video of this song, just write Ozzy Osbourne Clarkston 2000 MI Live. The show was recorded with a camcorder.

Bullshit dude like I stated before just because Joe Holmes does a riff or two of this song during his solo does not mean that Ozzy performed the song live so people out there you can go ahead and do what he says but you will be wasting your time if you want to hear Diary of a madman live because it doesn't exist and I challenge anybody come up with a legitimate live audio or video (with audio of course) of this song

he said "this is a song you've never heard before"... so great!.. the majority of humankind has a pretty low intelligence so they follow trends, but to the people who have a more articulate brain this is actually one of his top five songs, but it is my top song and almost ties with Mr Crowley...

You're mistakenly misguided. Joe Holmes playing a riff or two from the song during his solo does not mean Ozzy performed the song live sorry this song has never been performed live
