The ending is now so much more poignant knowing it was Lyle's last moments with the PMG. RIP Lyle, you are so missed.

The best musical experience I had in my entire life, and it is still getting better after so many years... calling this a masterpiece is an understatement, this is the greatest musical piece ever composed and performed, there are so many things that makes this album special and explaining wouldn't be nearly as effective as experiencing it, and it is coming from a music teacher, I am forever grateful for this work.

Masterpiece. It took me some time to really appreciate this work but after listening to it over and over again, it completely got me; surely it's not as "catchy" as most previous PMG's gems, yet it's impregnated with beauty, pathos and genius. IMO, the Metheny/Mays combination is one of the best things that has ever happened in the history of music.

Perfectly said! I know certain songs so well but also hit & miss cause it was my folks, particularly my Dad who put PM on. This came up randomly for me recently & boom it hit me. Suddenly I remembered hearing so much but also hearing other parts I know my Dad did too. My folks love Pats guitar, I do too but for me its Lyle & I wishI could tell my Dad this. I came back tonight & was crying thinking of my Dad until I read your comment. TY!

I have been attending PMG concerts since 1979, of the dozens I have seen during these years, this tour was absolutely the pinnacle for the PMG. We were at the initial show of this tour and wow! They played this album in it entirety, took a break and returned with a greatest hits set. Simply amazing!
@eddents2 ай бұрын
During this album tour, PMG had a concert in South Korea (unsure of the city) that they filmed and turned into DVD. It's mesmerizing to watch. Highly recommend. When I play it, I think I'm going to have it in the background while I "do some household chores". An hour later the DVD is finished, but the chores aren't and it feels great every time.

LOVE Pat Metheny , a beautiful man whom is a great drummer called Steve Palmer introduced me to his music , I was 19 at the time lol it blew my mind ;D))) he is also the reason I became Vegan as he gave me some leaflets to read about where our food source came from while we were all doing a summer season at Pontins , i did waitressing , he played with the resident backing band , really sweet and deeply spiritual man , miss him even now ;D

He is also a buddist , a very deep and gentle soul . If you ever meet him , your in safe hands ; ) a real trustworthy man of integrity

Sorry to hear of Lyle's passing, he will be missed for sure. BUT, he got way more out of Life than JP! Now THAT was not only SAD, but TRAGIC & UN-Necessary!!! RIP

Hi Jovan, I'm very very sorry but I will not be able to post any of the early Pat Metheny albums (including American Garage, and As Falls Wichita) as he was signed to ECM records back then and they are very strict about not letting their music get put on the internet. If there is any other newer Metheny, or Lyle Mays solo album, or even a Metheny Group bootleg I would be happy the post it 🙂

I really hope you get to understand this album. The album has a 3 note motif, which repeats everywhere. With just 3 notes he made more than 1 hour of music. Each song is connected to each other. Next level genius
