A smashing job on the boiler and hot water cylinder change Pete, it looked absolutely brilliant. Altering the pipes for the radiators must of been a right pain. You and Marcus certainly work so well together and the finish is always first class. Credit to you both.👍👏✊

Always great content. Thank you. One thing about fitting those drain cocks on cylinders, I always prefer to orientate them so that if the washer sticks I can easily grab it. When it's pointing down it can be a pain!

couple of years ago i was on a job trying to get a flue out that was put in with expanding foam. i was messing about for a good while until the site labourer came over, told me to step aside and then he gave it an almighty twat with a shovel. two hits and the flue went clang on the ground outside. i was so impressed i gave the lad the boiler for scrap, he was well pleased.

Still don’t know why gate valves where ever fitted. So good when you shut them off. Drain a cylinder and they don’t open.

Please stop bodging the wiring centres! its not just a terminal block, if you get a leak you've got a fucked PCB not just damp connections! Leave the terminal blocks there and extend the wiring to mount the wiring centre on the wall. Also just FYI if you fit a socket and its not RCD protected you fall foul of the wiring regs, so you can't just swap a spur for a socket any more (even though this is a completely valid use case). I'd personally like to see Vaillant put a small power supply in the wiring centre or boiler so you can just plug it in with the bus connections but seems no-one can make something perfect. Like the vids mate but just hate the idea of an expensive wiring centre getting ruined by poor placement.
@dennisphoenix1
@dennisphoenix1 11 ай бұрын
It being a modern house the socket circuits would be RCD protected already . I have been fitting RCD split boards for 30 years . I agree with your comment on the wiring centre , it should be wall mounted to prevent damage.

Year 3 apprentice here! Love the vids mate! Is the cold main really balanced, since the main will divert to the kitchen sink first, will this make a difference? Also would a 15mm rising main suffice to supply the whole house?

Removed them all and weighed them in for scrap . The CWSC has been removed and the heating expansion /fill has gone because it's now a sealed pressurised system. The only thing left would be the shower piping which was tidied up .

A quote is only a quote, so if its different, I'd just explain to the customer what changed and why, otherwise you will have to take longer doing quotes to catch issues earlier. If I was the customer, I would have preferred to get the whole unit replaced, since warranty is important too. Although quicker to not swap the similar parts, they may also have issues and it might bite you later on. What happens to the extra parts - did you put them under the cupboards for any future replacements ? Great channel btw.

Why would u put pressure reducing valve on that flushing thingy? The bigger the pressure the faster water goes, the more stuff u take out, i once flushed system with almost 9 bars, that was out local pressure.

Why do installers put the filters in the most difficult position possible for service engineers to access????
@CarlAtkinson-zu1zh
@CarlAtkinson-zu1zh 11 ай бұрын
Probably because they know they will never have to clean them whilst the customer is watching them and asking, is there any dirt in them, the installer told me they would make my new system last for thousands of years if I bought them!…..

Because you're not an installer, you wouldn't understand. As you can see, flow and return pipe come through the back of the boiler with the use of stand-off bracket. This literally gives them no option. I believe you get it now.

Pete mate not telling you how do your job because your a far better plumber then me but that v smart controller on the floor like that is a no for me if cyl leaks or customer throws shit in there on it. Also then clicker wastes the spindles you can strip them down give them a little file and silicone grease and there as good as new it’s the limescale that builds up and stops them clicking clicking mech is just a bent piece of metal give it a go 👍👍👍💪💪💪
