Agreed. Even though this song is from 2001, and Sonny’s lyrics were addressing literally the state of the “Youth Of The Nation” back then, nothings changed. I’d argue the current state of the Nation and really the world exponentially worse in 2024. And when you think about it, it’s not just the youth who are broken, it’s all of us. I’m not a guy who wears his emotions on his sleeve, as I keep it all inside. Most people who know me, and even strangers who don’t might describe me as stoic. That said, every time I hear this song, for whatever reason, emotion wells up inside, and I get chills, or goosebumps. And it’s to the point that if I’m in public, or around other people, I have to leave whatever room or space I’m in, to avoid people seeing me potentially lose my composure.

Payable On Death was the best San Diego based Christian metal band. This song is from their 4th album, 2nd major label album Satellite. Released 9/11/2001. Their first single Alive is my favorite.

All the women and men who grew up in this generation listening to this music are like 35 to 50 now and that’s why we’re all pissed off, bucking against the government people who realize we deserve more than what we get it just is what it is this is the sound of like childhood for me 💯🤷🏼♀️

I met Sonny (P.O.D."s lead singer) years ago and the whole band in '06 or '07, and Sonny and Wuv (the drummer/his cousin) were SO down to earth, humble, and so damn cool. Ngl, I was star-struck with Traa (bass) because as a bass player I've looked up to him for years. Great experiences both times. Amazing guys. God bless my brothers from the nearby Southtown. SD represent!

April is the anniversary month of the death of Layne Staley would be nice if you could honor his memory by reacting to some of his best performance. Live at The Moore Theater in Seattle, was when Alice in Chains was at their prime before the drugs took Layne and Mike. My personal favorite was (It Ain't Like that Anymore) they also did Man in the Box, Bleed the Freak, The Real Thing, Sea of Sorrow, and Love Hate Love. Please take the time to remember this mans eminence vocal abilities, lost way to soon. RIP Layne you are not forgotten...............

Power song 20 years later. And unfortunately it still holds true. Was about the Santee School shooting back in 2001. They were at the recording studio and saw cops and emts etc driving past them.

This is one of my all time top bands, grew up listening to them since middle school or earlier. Amazing blend of rock, metal, rap, and reggae sounds. You want more songs to check out from them? Alive, Boom, Goodbye For Now, Southtown, Satellite, Set It Off, Asthma, Find My Way, Waiting On Today, Execute the Sounds, Will You, Revolution, I and Identify, Bullet to Blue Sky, Set Your Eyes to Zion, Lie Down, Tribal, Hollywood, Rock the Party (Off the Hook), Outkast, Brown, Full Color, Thinking About Forever, Anything Right, Portrait, Ridiculous, The Messenjah, Ghetto, Masterpiece Conspiracy, basically this is one of those bands you could easily do full album reactions to and this isn't even touching their newer stuff as I kinda lost touch with the band around 2003 and they've released like half a dozen albums since then. So for me it's been all about their albums Brown, The Fundamental Elements of Southtown, Satellite, and Payable On Death. Definitely a kick-ass band to listen to. Some more good bands I picked up on in that era are 12 Stones (the lead singer collabed with Amy Lee for Evanessence's song "Bring Me To Life"), Pillar, Thousand Foot Krutch (kind of a rock/rap group similar to Linkin Park in some ways) and MxPx (punk rock band, so similar in sound to Green Day. Honestly, dude, I could give recommendations all day long. There is so much great music out there and it amazes me how so many people seem to have never heard of these bands before.
