Part 3 of Royal Enfield Himalayan - Seattle, WA was long overdue, but hopefully worth the wait. Finally we get to see some serious riding action and curvy, mountain roads. Consider liking, sharing or subscribing and all that fun KZfaq stuff.
The highlight of the episode is finally entering into Canada and riding in Banff National Park's winding, mountain roads. As my skill and creativity with the action cams improves, so does the overall experience of viewers get riding along on the Royal Enfield Himalayan.
SERIES OVERVIEW
Follow along as I purchase a Royal Enfield Himalayan in Seattle, Washington and ride it for the first time EVER all the way back to Alaska. I even do some customizing to the bike along the way!
This is the second part of a series of videos covering my purchase of the 2018 Royal Enfield Himalayan Himalayan, customizing the bike and exhaust with Cerakote Ceramic after only 300 miles, doing my first service, then continuing on through Banf National Park, Jasper National Park, the Canada Yukon and Alaska where I stopped at a magnificent glacier before arriving home.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is a 411cc adventure bike built in Indian and made available in the U.S. for the first time in 2018. Very few motorcyclists in the U.S. have had the experience of riding one let alone taking it for a near 3000-mile ride right from the showroom floor.
IN THIS MOTORCYCLE SERIES
○ At only 411cc's, how does it handle on American highways?
○ What's involved with the first service at 300 miles?
○ Can it hold up on a long-distance adventure?
○ Is it comfortable, capable, and does it handle well?
○ How does the bike look after a ceramic coating of the exhaust, skid plate and levers?
○ And what sort of scenery, wildlife and adventures do I experience on my 2,800-mile ride back to Alaska?
I hope you enjoy this series. Please LIKE & SUBSCRIBE for the following parts and future Himalayan adventures in Alaska.

I think US citizens take it for granted but US is one of the most beautiful country on the planet, full of awe inspiring scenic places..Vast open lands and endless roads. A heaven for riders. It has always been my dream to own a decent bike and ride it all around the world.Maybe someday I will be able to afford it. But untill that day comes,I will keep on living little parts of those dreams by watching amazing people on KZfaq like yourself riding and going places I can only imagine.Thankyou.

Quite right! We all need to take advantage of our own back yards, and protect it as well. I myself need to do more Western and Southwest exploring in the US. Haven't even seen the Grand Canyon yet. Sounds like a good idea for a future trip. 🙂

Three cheers for functional democracy! 🍻 I guess nice roads are one of the benefits. Economy and money isn't worth anything if it doesn't get appropriated honestly in ways that benefit the whole country. Thanks for commenting Triple Ace!

I hope that one day you can fulfill your dream. Manifest those thoughts into your reality. I've been fortunate to have been able to ride through some amazing scenery over the years in the states and western Canada. Keep your head up and your eyes on that prize and shrug off any setbacks. I've been amazed with all of the places that I've been and how many people in different places here haven't ever ventured outside of the state that they live in. I've met some of the greatest people in my travels and a few have become longtime friends. Cheers.

Note, I live in Australia and have the same bike you have ( but I think yours is the EFI model judging by the oxygen sensor at the top of the exhaust pipe?, mine is just the standard carburetor model bike ) Bought my bike from a motorcycle shop at Port Macquarie and rode it home in one fell swoop( approx 625klms!, the bike was a demonstrator bike with about 800 klms on the clock, therefore I got the bike very cheap. I bought this bike as it's quite light and a low seat height as I'm not that tall and at 62 years old the days of big heavy cruiser are well and truly over. I almost done 5000 klms now and I just love the bike. I service the bike every 1500 klms and will do the tappets when I get to 5000 klms , shortly I will install a set of Royal Enfield panniers. By the way great video's and scenery ( love the footage of those humming birds ) All the best and take care Regards Alan Reilly

Glad to hear you're liking your Himalayan too. Also really happy you appreciated those hummingbirds. I had a big grin on my face when putting those in the video. So fun to watch with the music. Must have thrown a few people off that only wanted to see bikes, but I couldn't pass on including it. Truly my favorite part of the whole video. Should be posting Part 4 on or about Dec 7 if you're interested. By the way, I think I'd be happy with the non-EFI Himalayan. I dread the day some electrical gizmo isn't working. On the other hand, the precise fuel delivery of the EFI has it's benefits.

The good thing is that your experiencing all that with the right pace.. The Himalayan is made for this.. The views are wonderful and incredible. Your review of the bike are the best. People have reservation about the power of the bike, the spokes and the tubes on the tires. It is a good bike. However, I am still skeptical of the bike. I wish is was in the 6-800 cc range and it will make a buyer out of me. Right now I am just going to stay on the side till they come up with a bigger bike and a more reliable bike. YOU definitely broke some of the myths of the bike to and including driving it at highway speeds. Thus, RE needs to congratulate you on this. They should put you on the payroll. Good job. Great job breaking many myths of the bike.

From a fellow Himalayan owner, having ridden 30k KMs for 2 years now, but still, watching you ride the motorcycle feels so special. I feel its both, the bike and you. Love the way you make these videos, I was wondering 30 mins was too long for one part, but now I don't mind watching this 1 story for hours, may be I'll start feeling this trip should never end. Waiting eagerly for the next one. Cheers!!

@@KARMAkazeMoto unfortuantely, I haven't done any long rides except for a 160 km round trip to a nearby resort down the East Coast Road in Chennai, India and a few times were I would take the 50km Highway route back home from office instead of the 34km through the city traffic. I must say I have enjoyed the scenic ECR road down the coast, and this Highway too. I commute 70 KMs a day to and fro, and that's kept me away from doing longer rides. But, I enjoy the daily ride too, it's definitely the biggest motorcycle here, but it is still so easy to ride in the traffic and it's got a great presence on road, even the cars and trucks respect it. Wish I get to do long rides soon. Your videos are definitely inspiring.

@@roccock I know how some of those shorter but better rides can improve your work week. It's good that you do those rides every once in a while. And if manage to fit in a bigger excursion be sure to come on back and share it. I think the best thing about this KZfaq sharing is actually the opportunity to help and inspire others.

Sounds like good advice. Someone else also recommended the nitrogen to me. As for the oil, I did use the recommended Motul Semi-Synthetic stuff, but not full synthetic. Who sells the K&N? I haven't seen one yet.

@@KARMAkazeMoto K&N air filters are fine for the road, but they're not so good in off road dusty situations. Search the web and you'll see. As to oil, no reason to purchase expensive "motorcycle" oil. Shell Rotella T6 is full synthetic and rated for wet clutches by the JASO (Japanese equivalent to SAE). Best of all, it's available at WalMart in 5 quart jugs for ~$24 (less than $5/quart). Great VLOG-superb scenery with excellent video/audio/editing!

There are two school's of thought on the oil level. 1/ is what you have done which is fill to the 2nd mark. 2/ Is if you look in the book it will give you a quantity of oil to fill it with when you change the filter. If you do this it will fill the glass. I choose to go with the recommended quantity rather than go by the level in the sight glass. I did over 5,000 km with my first Himalayan and had no issues. I also went for a ride with the guy who bought my old bike and it's going like a champion. I also noticed that my Ducati Scrambler Classic was the same. If you filled it with the recommended amount of oil the site glass was full, which is how it came to me. I beleive if you check a new Himalayan in the dealership that you'll find they are full in the site glass as well from new.

That blue water? Yeah, it almost looks unreal. I'm not sure if you know this, but I'll share it. The color is due to glacial silt in the water and minerals like copper which turn a blue-green color when oxidized. Some have color while others look milky or cloudy white.
