They have no faults. The previz was super fast. The director intended to do it in this way. They just did what they were told.

I really enjoyed the animation style for this movie. It was a delicate balance of physically realistic and stylistically fantastic. Best of both worlds in one package and that made the fights more interesting by far that I dare say epic. Awesome one Double Negative.

I still preferred the heft conveyed by the original

The 2013 pacific rim did a better job on the vfx solely because they included the detail of how the weight and size of a jager effects its movement. It's not realistic for a piece of metal that big to move as fast as a person in a motion capture suit.

To be honest, although I esteem deeply the work of DNEG on motion pictures, I found the entire Pacific Rim Uprising dull, unimaginative, lacklustre and pretty blah. I don't think that it is DNEG to put to blame here. The film, the script, the plot, the screenplay, the characters left much to be desired. It proved to be an uncalled-for and unnecessary sequel. Pretty much like Independence Day Resurgence (yet, both flicks comprise stellar and technically laudable VFX shots)
