We are going carry on only for this 7 day Caribbean cruise onboard Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas. We love packing carry on only for a cruise, but it can be challenging at times. I always want to take everything. The way I deal with this is I get everything out, and then arrange it into stacks to see how it will fit into the carry on luggage. This gives me a target to shoot for, and I can then begin a process of elimination. A good thing about packing for a Caribbean cruise this time of year is the weather is typically warm. I won't have to deal with lots of bulky clothes like I would on an Alaska cruise. We don't go over every item of clothing like we have in some other cruise packing videos, but you will get a good sense of what we are taking. If you stick around until the end, you'll see how it all fits into our carry on bags. If you have any cruise packing tips, please share them in the comments below.

I pack half of my clothes in my suitcase and half of them in my friends and vice versa in case one of them goes missing we will both have clothes to wear. We use full suitcases and always pack too much. But each trip we get better at packing 😀

Sherry, we went on a cruise about a year ago on Freedom of the Seas from San Juan PR to St. Kitts, Curacao, Aruba, St. Maarten and St. Thomas. We had a wonderful time. It was our second cruise. Our first was our honeymoon, the second was our 10 year anniversay. We were supposed to go to Bon Aire, but it got cancelled at the last minute (disappointing), so they took us to St. Kitts instead. I have to say.....I LOVE your new dress with the built in shorts! That is right up my alley! Also, can I just thank you for your refreshing use of proper grammar and syntax? I think I've said something to you before, but I just really appreciate it. You're absolutely right about bringing ziploc bags! We do things a lot like you do!

I love these packing videos!! I am a notorious over packer and learning to shrink down to carry on only. I’ve done pretty well on my last two domestic flights (non cruise) with my carry on and Mia Tui Jenny bag. Next summer we are going to Europe for at least 2 weeks, including 7 night Mediterranean Cruise on Explorer of the Seas. We’ll spend 3-4 days in Venice, 4 days in Rome before cruising to Greece and Naples. I’m super nervous about being able to pack everything I need in just carry on but so determined to make it work. The shoes are usually my tipping point. I hate not feeling prepared with a variety of shoes for so much walking, formal nights ect.. I can’t wait to see your shoe recommendations and more packing tips! Thanks for all the great content! 🙏🏻💕👍🏻👌🏻

I was on that cruise 2 years ago. You will be walking around on uneven streets so wear good sandals like Clarks or tennis shoes. Don't wear flip flops. Around the ship, wear short wheels that have been broken in. I wore a pair of heels that got stuck in the floor, so now on future cruises I make sure to wear chunky heels. Keep a eye on the weather. We got stuck with heavy downpours and we were not prepared and it was hard to find clothes in our sizes and they don't have dept stores like Macy's in Europe. Have a great time. I can't wait to to back to Italy and Greece.

Wow luv your tips I got most of the stuff you talked about but that weekend bag that hangs on the luggage I just got one and you are right it is spacious and comes in handy because I will now be using carry on bags.

I’ve been on RC to Bermuda and a couple Carnival cruises to the Caribbean. My favorite cruise packing must-have is a plug in air freshener for our room! A nice tropical scent is great and then when we use it at home we’re reminded of vacation 😀

We are going on Harmony in May to Coco Cay, San Juan and St. Kitts. We went on Oasis in March to Nassau, St. Thomas and Sint Maarten. I’ve also been to the new Coco Cay. All of your stops are amazing, have fun!

I have never done carry on only and I don’t plan too. One thing I may do on my next cruise is pack my carry on & personal item as if I’m doing carryon only. Then pack anything else I think I need in my checked bag. In September 2020 I’m going on a smaller Royal Caribbean ship, Serenade of the Seas to Hawaii. It’s a 11 night cruise from Vancouver BC and visiting 5 ports in Hawaii, then fly home.

I’ve been on royal Caribbean twice! I’ve been on harmony and freedom. On harmony I went to St. Kitts, Nassau Bahamas and St. Thomas. On freedom I went to Jamaica, Haiti, and Dominican Republic! One packing tip that we found useful was we always brought a small grocery bag to put our dirty underwear and socks in. All of the clothes we usually washed the day we got off the ship in the hotel we stayed at. So all we had to do was put our clothes away when we got home.

I've only been on the one cruise, but my packing tip (because we travel often) is to bring one bag per person, but NOT pack each person separately. Just pack each case until it's full then move on to the next one, and then the next one...

I center my wardrobe towards black, just 1 or 2 pink or gray tops, and only 4 pair of shoes, one which I wear on boarding day. Easy peasy...

We go on Royal Caribbean with a group so we get a magnetic dry erase board for the out side of the door to leave messages for or to someone on their board. It is great for communicating. Also if you are taking a nap , you can leave that on the board and what time you are getting up so you won’t be disturbed.

I always pack one separate cube with the whole family’s clothes for the hotel on pre-cruise night ... that way we’re not tearing through the suitcases trying to find our embarkation outfits. Alas! On the morning of our last Royal Caribbean cruise, when I was repacking the embarkation bag, I managed to leave my new white swimsuit coverup on the white bedsheets 😩 Next time, I’ll pack extras like you have!

If you want to add back magnets, try the really small neodymium cubes/discs. Amazon carries some, and they're super strong relative to their size.

We've only been on one cruise and it to the Southern Caribbean. I would love to you guys go to the Southern Caribbean too! We had an absolute blast in Aruba, St. Kitts, and PR! I am still so amazed that you guys can pack carry on only! We had two checked suitcases for our cruise and mine was overweight so we were frantically taking crap our of my suitcase and shoving it into his suitcase LOL!!! One of the things we took from all your tips was to use backpacks rather than the pull behind suitcases as our carry on luggage. It worked out so well and we didn't have to worry about dragging a suitcase behind us in the airport and at embarkation/debarkation.

My husband and I are going on our first ever cruise in February 2020. We will be going on Allure of the Seas and stopping in St. Maarten, Puerto Rico and CocoCay. Sheri, I found a hard sided luggage set that I absolutely love because the luggage is very durable no matter the damage on the outside. The biggest size needs to be checked in at the airport/seaport, the medium size can either be checked in or used as your carryon and the smallest one is carryon size and the small carryon has some compartments inside the luggage and that is completely TSA approved so if you don’t have any TSA approved travel bags or you don’t want to use any TSA bags then I would suggest that you purchase the DKNY Allure luggage luggage small carryon size to use if you like traveling carryon only. You can also purchase one of each of the DKNY allure luggage set sizes including the duffel bag and backpack in whatever color that you choose is you want to purchase the entire set. The price of each of the 3 luggage sizes and the duffel bag and backpack when not on sale ranges in price from $200-$350 a piece before tax and shipping, but when they are on sale the prices range in price from $100-$140 a piece before tax and shipping.

I have been on RCCL Liberty of the Seas - Western Caribbean out of Galveston. Looking forward to sailing on the Symphony of the Seas out of Miami in February 2020. Packing tip: use the space created by the telescoping handles for shoes, or packing "tubes". (I have Eagle Creek packing cubes called Tube Cubes that are great for undies, bras & socks.) These "cubes" or my shoes fit perfectly in those channels & there's no wasted space.

I found that folding the dirty clothes and putting them on one shelf in the closet means that I just take that pile of already folded clothes and put them back in the suitcase when it’s time to pack for home. So easy! You don’t have to have a hamper in the room. 😀

I will go on my first Royal Caribbean one on the 29th December and I am very excited. It will be a 12night cruise on the Voyager of the sea all newly revamped from Sydney Australia. I am following all your tips for my packing and I am happy that we are Not restricted with weight. One question. Do the cubes take less room in packing . I have bought 2sets from AliExpress . Only thing I can’t get is the laundry soap by sachets. I bought a retractable basin for my washing because I do not like to use my sink for any washing. I am like you may be more fussy. The basin is very practical because I had one smaller one which I was used to put in my bidet for more personal use. Have a great time on your trip.

I think you meant at the 5:58 mark of your vid is not a "carry on" but your "personal item", which would go under the seat in front of you. "Carry on" will be the bag that would be stored in the over head bin/compartment.

For the first time ever, since it's just a weekend trip. We are taking only a backpack (one for each of us) to save on airfare. I used to carry food/bev in a check in bag except on the last trip, I about threw out my back putting on the shuttle shelf. It was totally full, so I had to throw it on top. So instead, we'll pay for breakfast and not take the check in bag at all. These are regular size backpacks (just filled to capacity). But I think we can do it. We leave for this trip in 2 weeks. TOothpaste in your tsa bag/i didn't consider that a liquid. I'll put it in my tsa bag per your tip.

We’re leaving for Anthem of the Seas in 17days. (9night trip) This will be a cooler trip going up the coast to the Bay of Fundy and Nova Scocia. Im guessing I will not be able to only pack carry on. Any tips for cooler weather trips?

I am curious about the "three-one-one" bag you carry. My understanding is that it can only be a quart-sized ziploc bag (or equivalent to that quart size) with containers in it holding only 3 oz. or less. Your 3-1-1 looked HUGE! Obviously you have gone through security successfully with it. Have you ever had any TSA people question it?

Thoughts are my honest opinion-people are getting overly focused on carry ons that they forget many people bringing on every item they own can also be a hindrance. I have seen planes be late because of people’s insistence on their bag size and overhead containers being reorganized because of this. I know how everyone is representing this as the way to go but I prefer a simple, checked bag that is large enough to bring everything I want plus a spot for something new coming back. And no one is inconvenienced by me.

A few of them in recent years were comps(MSC Seaside, NCL Bliss). They went from filming in front of baby blue walls to big time cruise travel experts featured in magazines so cruise lines will comp you in the hopes of reviews and advertising.

@@CruiseTipsTV ooooh okay, that makes sense. I guess i didn't think that through since you did have the roller bags and I think the cruise lines really try to discourage too many of those carried on. I do fully carry on only with one of those backpacker type backpacks and it is amazing. Never waiting for my bags anywhere and it really curbs my natural overpacking instincts 😂
