One of my favorite ways to target redfish, snook, and trout on the flats is via my paddleboard!
So paddleboard fishing is what I typically think of first when it's just me going.
But I had a couple days when I wasn't able to spend much time with my 7 month-old puppy named Otis... he hardly feels like a puppy at 65 pounds...
So when I had a spare few hours on a weekend morning I decided it would be worth a shot to bring Otis along for the journey so I could spend some quality time with him while being able to explore a flat I have been wanting to check out for a while.
What I didn't factor in was all of the delays he'd bring due to falling/jumping in along with the commotion of constantly wanting to play.
Fortunately, I was on my new L2Fish from Live Watersports (www.livewatersp...) which is a very stable board with a nice wide platform making for enough space for two and enough stability to pull him up on the board when needed.
But the trip was a blast and I ended up getting some really good shots at a big school of 35+ inch redfish.
Had one on for a second, but the hook pulled. And then caught up to the school a couple more times but they were not getting fooled.
All in all, it was a really fun trip so I'll certainly be bringing Otis on the board many more times...
Although I'll be sure to prepare myself for many stops and spooked fish due to his antics.
But it'll be time well spent and he'll surely get better over time.
