Padgetts Racing tour - The most influential family in the motorcycle world. In this episode of Byrne Out Shane Shakey Byrne visits what used to be the world's largest bike dealership in the world. The huge Yorkshire bike workshops and race outfit of the Padgett family in Batley. Padgett's have been synonymous with motorcycle circuit and road racing for over 6 decades now. Often building race winning machines that outgun the works contenders and helped to sculpt champion riders, Shakey Byrne wanted to meet the family and see what they keep in their showrooms (and secret store rooms!).

I absolutely love the vehicular diversity that is portrayed on this channel. Johnny you and the team have really nuanced the content to engage, influence and educated a broad market and demographic. Although I am Australian and never visited the UK my general love and appreciation for classic, rally, ev's, motorcycles and collections has been enhanced. So much so it has spawned my goal to visit the UK and explore the countryside, visit some of these publicly available sites, races, meets and personalities. Thanks again for transitioning into an online streaming platform it is my go to source to relax, share and strengthen my passion.

Hey Shakey, I'm the apprentice tech at Padgett's (current off due to an injury) and I'm so jealous I didn't get a chance to be in when you visited. It's good to see the amazing bikes I work around everyday being shown off to the public.

Been there countless times. Once rocked up and chatted to clive who showed me around the worksops and incredibly saw the engine that eventually became the yzr that bruce rode at the TT. Clive remembered every detail about my mates big brother who bought a TZ 750 motor from him in the 70’s. A special motor ow31 I believe. Clive was an amazing completely grounded man to give me what would’ve been extremely valuable spare time. I absolutely love the padgett mentality and the fantastic family business they’ve built up

And legends outside the motorbike world tbh. Source: Myself. I'm not much a motorcycle guy. I prefer cages. Bikes are fascinating as an engineering exercise and I love them like that, but I don't feel drawn towards riding one. Given enough money I would own a few motorbikes but they'd all be static displays. I'd love to hang a Black Shadow and/or a Ducati 996 on the living room wall for instance (I know, I'm a terrible person!), but I have zero desire to ride either. But the Isle of Man TT legends are all stunningly interesting people and I love the motorcycle content here for embracing the people as much as, or even more than, the bikes themselves.

Shane, I cannot thank you enough. As an Australian, we watch in wonder at the road racing and awesome circuits you have around the UK. I have followed the roads closely for decades and Padgetts is a name and family I have come to know and respect. What could I add about Clive that has not been said already. His genuine love and care for both racing and rider is very special. When Bruce Anstey rode the Padgetts bike to win the lightweight class a few years back, the way Clive has brought on Davey Todd, their success and longevity is no accident. If I get to the NW200 one day, I,ll be sure to stop in at a Padgetts dealership, hopefully one that Clive is at on the day. Thanks again Shane, great series.

You know, I knew of Padgetts, as a name, from watching Isle of Man videos. I had no idea who, or what , Padgetts was. Thanks to Shakey, I now know the rich history and the wonderful story of this Family shop, somewhere in the UK, that has been such a History maker for so long! Thanks, Jonny, and Shakey, for having one of the BEST Channel's in KZfaq land!! Byrne Out Vid's are extra special to me, I love all things Automotive (Jonny's stuff) but, I am an even more avid fan of Motorcycles, of all makes and styles ( Shakey, and his racing knowledge and connections, priceless). Wow ! This was truly friggen fantastic. If the Padgett family don’t have serious Motorcycle Magnetism then I don’t know who does. This just blew me away, the UK really is a special place for motorcycles and Motorcycle Racing !?! Seriously the only RCV 213 dealer ,WTF, this shows you how kick ass Padgetts is. I love the fact that as young kids the desire to race bikes was in the mind already 🤘🏼 so special. I always felt the same and did become a local race champion and Canada’s 1st Ducati Master Tech. Every moment of my journey I’ve been in love with it, even eating that sh** sandwich. Thank you to Shakey and Co. for bringing this killer video to life. You got me now,Subscribed !!!

In this day and age it's wonderful to see a family run motorcycle business passed on to the next generation and carry on into the future. I spent 48 years as a mechanic in the trade and loved every day of it, although towards the end it got difficult with shops closing down and being made redundant. Congratulations to Padgetts for doing so well and indeed having a great reputation and great reputations have to be earned.

I forgot to mention that the first motorcycle shop I ever worked at which was Miles Hull Ltd bought from Padgetts a brand new Yamaha YAS1 which were a very lively 125cc 2 stroke twin cylinder machines. This particular bike was road going but kitted out with a race fairing, race tank and seat, clip on bars and rear sets, this would be at least a decade before the Dyson Kawasaki's appeared on the scene and at this time a rare item as only a hand full of shops were converting road machines into sports trim for the road, this would be early 1970's.

Great episode of the Burnout. Please please please do a similar feature for Philip McCullen’s shop in Northern Ireland. What a set up he has. The best part is that Philip is the busiest person there. He’ll stop and talk to you all day, but in between the conversation he’s off delivering bikes in his old van or dealing with customers. You name it. What a legend and gentleman. It’s the motorcycle capital of Ireland!

Excellent video. The shop wasn't however the original shop as mentioned by Shakey. The original shop was at the other end of town near Foxes biscuits. As good as this video is, it doesn't even scratch the surface of what this family have acheived or go any ways to uncovering the history. I live nearby and started my own career in the industry there as a saturday lad 30+ years ago. It was a dream come true. Just fascinating.
