Sad to say that the 24-etude set was not complete on the cassette. There were only Nos. 1-11., 13, 14, 17, 20 and 24.
Check out young master's incredible technique and the sound (especially for staccati, spiccati and ricochets), musically also intelligent. Recorded in 1981.

how much I understand you !!! and its sheer irony that people say this is an easy caprice !! yeah, ok, if you just want the correct notes it may be easier than the others, but if you want quality, especially in the dolce passage, it is exactly what you said, HELL

It also sounds like the hurdy gurdy, and this, being a popular instrument in Italy at the time of Paganini is much more likely what he is imitating. I'm not even sure that bagpipes would have featured much, if at all, in Italian culture during the early nineteenth century.

I have a rercording of Shlomo playing all 24 Caprices. If Paganini were alive today, I'm sure he would very impressed. I've never heard them played better.

there is a distinct difference between it being easy and him making it look easy, and although mintz in all his amazingness is good at making it look effortless in his performances...it still doesnt look easy lol

I love this piece. I'm trying to learn it even though I just finished the Bruch violin concerto. 1 day in and I can only play the first 3 lines... I just kind of gave up after that.

It's a little cheesy, but it is a picture of bagpipes, no doubt because of the open D string acting as a drone.
