You can easily mapo tofu with 'all-purpose sauce' without doubanjiang.
Here is a simple recipe for mapo tofu to have when you lose your appetite!

Extremely Easy Mapo tofu
[Ingredients]
1 & 1/2 cup Tofu (180g)
1/2 tbsp Minced Garlic (8g)
1 tbsp Scallion (5g)
1 tbsp Green Onion (10g)
1/2 Cup Ground Pork (80g)
1/2 Cup Water (90g)
1/5 Cup Water (starch water) (40g)
1/5 tbsp Starch Powder (2g)
1/2 Cup All-purpose Sauce (100g)
1 tbsp Soybean Paste (15g)
2 tbsp Cooking Oil (15g)
1 tbsp Sesame Oil (7g)
[Directions]
1. Cut tofu into 1.5-cm cubes.
2. Chop scallion and green onion.
3. Add cooking oil to a pan and stir-fry scallion and green onion over medium heat.
4. Once scallion and green onion start to cook, add ground pork and continue cooking.
5. When the pork starts to get cooked, add water, all-purpose sauce, and soybean paste and stir.
6. Once soybean paste is all mixed, add the cut tofu.
7. Add starch powder to water to make starch water and add it to the mapo tofu.
8. Add sesame oil and sprinkle scallion to finish.
